Great player esp if your blind. But in the event your not then look elsewhere. Review after reveiw I end up saying the exact same thing. 1)Poor image quality 2)Pausing throws audio, subs and video out of sync because of the delay in pausing the video. 3)Buggy and clunky configuration I would not reccommend you use KMPlayer instead though because it has become quite buggy under the new devolopers and has poor image quality too. MPC HC or BSPlayer offer the best quality and ease of use with the latter having more options.

"very simple" works simple where my wife and kids can use it. Haven't found one yet for other uses. Great for just the one thing so my family can watch certain programs. KeepItSimple,Sillyfits this program

"Excellent player; makes all other players obsolete" Plays all video formats with no trouble. All the shortcut keys are completely customizable, and the program is less taxing on the computer's resources than is Windows Media Player 11 or Quicktime. I set it as my default player for all file types. The icon is absurd. It's a great product, and yet the icon makes my desktop look like a hazard. Plus it makes the program look real shady when I install it on friends' computers. Download this player. VLC outclasses all others and puts both Apple and Microsoft to shame. Just as the freeware Mozilla Firefox surpasses Safari and Internet Explorer, VLC is simply better than the big-name competition.

"Best versatile player in the world." It's fast to load and has all the codes integrated. Rolling wheel on mouse will increase volume to 400% if needed. Lite on system resources. Free opensource software. Don't like the Icon. Wrong design for such a classy product. Icon needs attention. No the ideal program for audio files. But the best for video formats - all! You won't find a better video media player on the market that is free to use or purchased. I have never been asked to download a codec because it has all of them... so far!

"Early days yet" I have not made enough use of VLC Media Player yet to give it a fair review! As above, we shall have to see!

"Nice little .avi player" I like it because it play's all my .avi and .mpg movies I download to watch. It is quick and easy to use. Only that it has no fast forward or reverse capabilities, only a slide bar that is awkward to use. I'd give it five stars f it had this feature.

Best Video Player till now, those who say that it is the worst they should go and check their eyes, but I like the media resize feature of Media Player Classic which I lack in VLC Player or else Its the best which I could find till now, when I find that I can set the video size custom, then I'd give it a 5

I agree with chinch. I unloaded WMP long ago because of all the codecs needed to be installed just to play some videos and then some videos wouldn't play anyway. Where I think you are wrong chinch is saying ppl have crappy PCs. That may be true in some cases but I would bet that most ppl aren't playing the types of files you and I are. True, VLC has advanced options which make my head spin also, so I just set it to default. Anyone who says VLC player has terrible video quality might want to check their monitor instead. How much clearer can a video player get than VLC? I presume there might be a better player out there, but VLC is the only player anyone should ever need to play video on the fly, period.

Great the drag n drop re-ordering of the playlist (which seemed to have been disabled in 1.0.2) now works - kinda However a problem still remains select several files (in the playlist) ... drag n drop them (again somewhere else in the playlist) oops !

"Most efficient media player." Will play practically any kind of file out there. Its not the most user friendly software, but its easy enough. Great media player. A must have for any computer whether or not it is used as the primary media player.

- Supports nearly every type of video or audio file you could throw at it - No messy codec packs to install - Ability to play ISO files and ZIP files without decompression - Cross platform and Open Source - Streaming and stream recording - Skin interface can be highly unstable depending on the quality of the skin - Poor Shoutcast support - needs some kind of browser like WinAmp - Needs better visualizations - perhaps MilkDrop support - Default interface sucks I have used VLC for years and watched it grow from a fledgling media player on Linux to a full-featured, multi-platform Swiss Army Knife. Yes, VLC is the Swiss Army Knife of Media Players. I have thrown all types of media files at, even some very obscure ones, and I have not yet found something it could not handle. I even install it on every new PC, MAC, and Linux machine I sell. The are a few caveats, though. The VLC team has focused so much on making such an awesome media player that they have left some of the more pedestrian features out in the cold. In the past, I have tried a couple of WMP-like skins to closer integrate VLC into the look and feel of Vista (*shudder*) at a customer's request. Both skins caused VLC to crash frequently, especially when changing settings or exiting the program. Another thing that bothers me is the Shoutcast support. Getting it to work correctly means having to enable it it in the "File" menu and then going into the "Playlist" window to see if shows up and repeating until it does - this needs to be done every time you start VLC to listen to Shoutcast. Once you get Shoutcast working, you have click on the genre you want to listen to and wait for it to load, and when it does load it automatically plays the first station it finds. This is a BIG NO-NO in my book. All-in-all, VLC is a great program for media playback but don't expect any more out of it just yet. I would give VLC a fair rating of 4.5 out of 5 or 9 out of 10. You'd be crazy not to download VLC and at least give it a

"Works like a Champ every time." VLC Media Player 1.0.3 takes on all comers, VERY mice to be able to play Windows based AND Quick Time thru one player. A bit bare bones in looks. Nice, VERY nice.
