Works well with Flv files and AVI files. I like it. nice and clear pictures on it. Doesn't support DXVA1 (on WinXP) Sends information out from your computer. Well worth the download.

Easy to use and well organized. No significant shortcomings.

Well developed, plays anything you throw at it when others won't, and FAR more versatile that just a simple media player.

Check out the summary Hard to say. Well, I don't use it for listening to music. I use WMP or WINAMP. 1. Very light weight. 2. Plays anything and everything. 3. Easy controls. 4. Shortcuts keys for everything. 5. Handles subtitles beautifully. 6. Advanced options to tweak things. 7. Doesn't hog resources much.8. Sound boost beyond the OS max.9. Repairs broken video files automatically10 .The best out there and one of the first things I install in a new or formatted system.Want something to watch movies or tv series or any video you have? Look no further. This is the best out there.

Plays just about any media format out there. I've tried to play some of my guitar songs that recorded and wanted to slow them down so I could hear them note for note but it kept crashing because of that. The only thing that it has above Windows Media Player is that it can play more media files from my use with it. Other than that, it is a descent media player. I use an XP.

Plays anything I throw at it, without fuss. Nothing to complain about. Short and sweet: it just works, every time (and the price is right -- free!).

very nice to me I like this product nothing to say

Rated 50/50 by RubyFox292 at Aug 16, 2010

Opens every single file I have every asked it to open Can modify basic characteristics of the audio or video easily Simple but powerful No downloading codecs, this has it covered Nothing at all, it is a must have on any computer I have used VLC player for years. It will open anything I've tried. This makes life so much easier...who wants to waste time downloading codecs? I have never, ever had it crash any computer I've run it on unlike some of the reports here, and I've personally had it on 3 different computers of mine, plus 2 family members. Not to say it couldn't happen, but I'm not sure how...its never even frozen so that I've had to kill it with Task Manager. Its a stable, solid, highly functional simple app. Love it.

Really good plays most formats some of the standard settings are confusing, remeber to undock the playlist. one of the best media players freely avaliable

Good feature set: Audio-Video resynchronization, screenshot ability, color adjustments, and several fun things like cropping and color modificationCaptures video (not tested by me), wide file format support, and good playback Poor in-app media navigation, must go through Windows explorer in order to access media (fine for video, very poor for music) Generally complex for the average user I enjoy having settings to pour through. I like having the option to change almost anything I want. I love this program for VIDEOS, not music. I use Windows Explorer from the get go instead of navigating through the drop down menus so its use of the drop down menus doesn't affect me. If you are the type of person who is easily overwhelmed by excessive menus, choose this program with care.

Hmm Version 1.1.2 was really buggy so I had to go back to version 1.1.1 and I don't trust new updates of VLC anymore. I'll probably stay with 1.1.1 for a very long time
