VLC (VideoLAN) is a multi-platform multimedia player. It can read DVDs, VCDs, MPEG, and DivX files and from a satellite card. It can also read a stream from a network sent by the VideoLAN Server or another source. The stream can be MPEG 2 TS in UDP or HTTP packets unicasted or multicasted on an IPv4 or IPv6 network.

"It's grrrreat like Tony the Tiger!" It plays a large variety of different files. You can also use the right click to play multiple files in order. This enables you to play a movie that is split in to two or more files without stopping just to click on the next icon. If you try to play multiple files or add multiple items to the playlist, you must add them one at a time instead of just simply adding them all at the same time. Doing so will result in the different files playing in a random order. I like the fact you can use the original DVD menu to browse all the options just like a DVD. I also love the fact that it is FREE.

"I use it as my default media player." VLC player is easy to use and has better sound control for Windows.. No real complaints. In the past I have encountered some files that would not play with Windows Media player. VLC would always work. Now I use the VLC player as my default.

"Best Media Player Software ever" This software is very good.Compared to windows media player I can increase the sound to 300% +.The video quality is very good. Never froze on me so far. Adds subtitles very well. I give this product 5 stars. No cons at all.

"This is nowadays the default media player of the masses" easy to use, simple shortcuts for volume, skipping tracks of the movie. This player plays almost all of known media formats quite easily. shows error mssg while playing 3gp file, but plays the file once you close the error mssg. Good, Better than currently available media player. Worth an installation on your system.

I would normally have give VLC player 5 stars But ... 1. Delete (by pressing del key) of a entry in the playlist is now broken - last worked in 1.0.4 2. Drag and drop of more than one entry in the playlist reverses the order 1234 dragging and dropping [12] at the end become 3421 It seems like there are issues in quality control On good points ... 1. I like the ability to change the speed - I often watch tv at 1.09 of normal speed without ill effect 2. I like the ability to fix the sync audio and video 3. I like the ability to fix the sync subtitles If I could find a player that played all the files AND had the above problems fixed, without loosing the functions I like - Id probably switch

It plays everything, every time. This is the ultimate replacement for the perennially awful Windows Media Player. It's ugly as sin, but hey, it works. It works, it works, it works. It works. I would like a more user friendly and prettier interface, but it's not broken, so don't fix it. This program came out only a few years ago and I've been using it since. I can't believe it took this long for someone to create a good media player.

excellent player, but I wish it had better GUI controls like WMP. This is not review for pre1 version which does not work.

Love it's flexibility and insane codec recognition out of the box!

All the bugs I previously mentioned seem to be fixed. Drag and drop now works, the order is correct and the 'del' key also works I like the UI improvements to :-)

Will Corrupt WMP in Vista. As for how it functions for others, it sounds like it is over-hyped. And unfortunately Vista has huge compatibility problems with many programs. Vista Users Beware. If using any version of Vista (which has a zillion compatability problems, even with its own MS updates) do not install this VLC program. It will disable WMP and unless you are able to run System Restore you are sunk, along with all of your WMP files. In addition, Real Player SP is problematic with Vista. However, based on the actual functioning VLC I believe that its reviews were hyped.

- Plays almost any media format- Free- Multitude of customisable features- Updated often- - No deblocking feature yet unlike GOM- Playback speed, aspect ratio, etc. can't be saved, unlike GOM, so when the next item in your playlist starts you have to set the controls again!- You can't crop just by pushing + button like in GOM If you want the best media experience, no one player will suffice for all your needs. I suggest that you get:- VLC & GOM for standard media files- Neuview Media Player for enhanced picture playback for low and standard definition videos (you'll need ffdshow)- Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 for Bluray or 1080p BDRip playback. VLC can't handle them without stutter.

It is a light program and as shown above, it plays everything! Some people may be upset by the lack of a good menu for finding your video files.
