Hesitated to download initially because it did not appear to read PDF files. However, when I visited their website there is a a link to a whole lot of addins including the PDF viewer. This is the freeware version and works really well even with the 3rd party addins. The shareware version looks as though it has some appealing features but with the state of the world economy ( and mine )just now, I will be holding on to my money.

ATViewer, aka Universal Viewer has been a great freeware which I've used for years. It works with both "Total Commander" and "Free COmmander" (see freecommander.com), wherby "lister" plugins afford the viewing of virtually any filetype upon most recent update / upgrade, i enjoy the "explorer" pane-- a new feature. however, on its "evaluation" expiration, the Universal Viewer itself seems to have lost its other functionality as well. In the past, Universal Viewer has been a 5-STAR app-- easily. My 1-star rating reflects only my experience, as follows, on upgrade of U/V to what was the most recent version-- at last upgrade. [whatever! latest version, i guess-- not sure if it's /this/ version, or the previous release] The Good In Detail:: I have harbored an affinity for Universal Viewer, as a companion to FreeCommander for years. The countless available "lister" plugins (touted as "total commander" listers, on the distribution site) enable U/V to open and display for easy viewing from these 3rd-party FileManagers, such file types as SVG, XLS, ODS, DOC, and a score of other types i'd be foolish to attempt to represent here (i.e. view files easily, while browsing folders from T/C and F/C). However, the application no longer serves such a universal functionality-- such that any sort of "browsing", as in from one image in a folder of images, is no longer possible. There are no context menu commands-- essentially the file is opened, and viewable with one option: close. I recognized this reduced functionality only AFTER installing the updated version, which includes the "Explorer Panel"-- indeed, a nice new feature which allows the user to browse his/her filesystem from a tree-like panel at the left of the active file viewer. After two-weeks, 30-days, whatever-- the Explorer panel "expires", at which time-- in my experience-- so did most of the "universal" functionality i'd come to love from ATViewer. I'd say-- if you're going to update-- make certain you've have a copy of o

Let's you view files regardless of their format. The answer to viewing Office files seems to be to start Office. Gee, I could have done that myself. A useful tool though.

For me, none. Maybe it would be helpful to others. Like I said, it didn't work for me.

A simple to use utility, very versatile, "Trusteer" protection software gave a clean bill of health. Not yet found any. At almost 84, a retired technical support manager, who has tested software from pre CPM & DOS days, I always have a cluttered computer. This simple utility has allowed me to view old files created with long-lost programs:I tested it on a Winchester Hard drive, unused for a decade.

* the main application is freeware; * the add-on "Navigation Panel" is shareware.

Excellent in viewing different file formats in an easy, clean interface. Able to customize the window to my liking I must have missed the decline button, but it changed all my home pages in IE, Firefox and Chrome and added a toolbar to IE & FF. Be careful with your install. Good program BUT I did not care for the "Extra" install.

Viewed most of the formats I tried, except DOCX, but I understand that there's an add-on for that and other formats. Installs "Search Settings.exe" and wants to change your search engine. It's helpful, but I don't think I'd install it if I knew about the search issues.

Opens lots of different formats. Had some it couldn't figure out. Listed as free, but I get a 15day expired sometimes.

This utility is light weight on system resources, Never crashes when some action doesn't workoutA plethora of plug-ins and application settings A plethora of plug-ins and application settings I use this file utility all the time, Its elegant yet robust. If a file format comes long that doesn't work out of the box, a few settings changes and viola in about 90% of the cases. If at first you don't get it, do not uninstall play with it and get to know it, it will serve you well.
