Best utility I've used for customizing start up menu. Crashed my external drive and no tech support. I have a 500 gig external drive for backups. I had just deleted most of what was on it and was surprised when the utility said it was badly fragmented. I started the defrag and the drive froze after 5 minutes and became unrecognizable to the computer, including "safely remove hardware" and disckeeper, which I normally use for defraging. This drive had very limited use and is less than a year old. I emailed tech support asking for help and never received a reply. I eventually figured out how to reformat the drive and of course lost all remaining data in the process. The drive is fine now, so I don't know what this utility did to crash it, but I immediately uninstalled it and would never use it again.

I am amazed at all the tests, checks and optimizations TuneUp Utilities does.Whatever I have a concern about the functioning of my computer TuneUp Utilities has a test for it. All the tests run were optimized. I would like to see a before optimization chart and after the tests and diagnostics chart, to see what exactly was changed. This is a super program. Even I can keep my computer running at peak condition. I got a new computer and I wanted a utility program that would keep my hard drive free from lost fragments and the other garbage that accumulates and slows a computer down. Everything on my computer is working great. I haven't had any crashes or locked up programs. I've had this program several weeks and still haven't discovered all that it can do. One small adjustment is the ability to change the startup page. I much prefer my personal touch instead of an ad for Microsoft.

Keeps your computer running well. I like the fact you can change themes with this, without having buy a separate program. It might delete some registry files you need. (You can reverse it, if you suspect it).

This program may appeal noobs as features like disk / disk cleanup etc are presented to you on an easy to use one screen display. Registry cleaner only remove a small number of unused keys, which won't help performance when you consider the 100,000+ keys in the registry. MemOptimizer -At best, RAM optimizers have no effect, and at worst, they seriously degrade performance Free up space on your computer has know one heard of Windows Disk Cleanup? Also start type "msconfig" without the quotes than disable startup programs . If that is too complicated you could always install Ccleaner free to free up space also it has no running processes unlike Tuneup Utilitities using up your precious RAM if you are short of it. Next Defragment your computer many good free better alternatives to windows built in defrag suach as My defrag or Defraggler . The only two safe ways of speeding up your computer apart from installing more RAM. No "marketing gimmicks are bull guaranteed " and 100% free. Updated on Apr 10, 2010

Not mutch, but it does have a much nicer interface(s). I think it would probably be great for Vista or Windows 7. I rated this version below "good" because it has no more memory optimizer. Too many operations to be done just to optimize the use of the product. It loads very slowly and operates slower than the system tools that come installed with windows. I wouldn't purchase this version! I uninstalled it after a few days of unsatisfied results. I reinstalled v TUU2006 and it works fantastic!

Excellent Integration with windows (looks like it is a part of windows itself)Great Interface for usersGreat Speed (analysis takes minimum time)Numerous Functions (turbo mode, live optimization, maintenance)Ease of useGood Performance Memory Usage is High for average user (50 MB + 3 + 5 for services)Mimimum notifications of actions to userLack of a function to automatically activate turbo mode (like profiles)Google Chrome not supported as a browser Definitely the best windows optimization tool in the market.Apart from being the best, it provides significant performance boost for computers who have run windows for more than a few months.Turbo mode is a great idea to improve performance in games and fullscreen applicationsLive optimization keeps track of user habits and manages performance accordinglyRecommended application for all those users who do not have the time to undergo a complete system restore to return their PC to the original shape.Great integration with windows 7 making the application look nothing out of place and extra

3 tiny freeware apps can do 1000x more and better than this junk.

Rated 10/50 by gawd21 at Apr 26, 2010

Freaking junk! There is nothing in here that you can't do in a few seconds on your own! Heft services, and BS. Boycot this crap!

@ballyhairs: It is classic feature bloat and/or meddling of 'professional' project managers. I haven't used this product, so won't comment on it specifically. I just wanted to comment on your statement about products going downhill. It does happen, all too frequently. Either a developer just goes overboard, or these managers come in and start directing things. Naturally, by this time, the company has high powered PCs, and doesn't even think about all those people with older PCs. Also, its easier to develop bloated apps than slim ones. In fact, my personal efforts to write slim software (I'm the author of Process Lasso) have sometimes caused little bugs and such that wouldn't have otherwise existed if I just took the 'easy and dumb' approach. Of course, little bugs get fixed, and in the end the slim software is what people like.

Installation, interface, embedded functions, options of Windows customization, internal turbo mode. results in Windows 7. Errors of "security, performance..." that it reports. It really help to keep Your WinXP in good condition, cleaning of registry was always working, I never used embedded "restore backup" function, I used this software for all system maintenence and even "customization" of some functions in XP that was annoying me But now I have Windows7. I am not pro, with all the Win7 system, but it looks like TuneUp basicly behave like Win7 is XP. That means, cleaning of registry can touch something You don't like. Eg: I lost thumbnails in Win icons and now I have to download Win codecs to restore original associatios. And to tell the truth, my Win7 Home premium slowed down slightly. And another thing I really don!t like. Once I set up the options in TuneUP, it should not recommend me any "security" or "system" recommendations at all. If I change my mind, I will ask... :-) I don't know, what is the problem, but it looks, that I have to reinstall system soon. Anyway, If You are WinXP user, I recommend this product with no doubt.

Works great on turbo mode, and increases gaming graphics, and focuses on the one windows that is open. Well, I definitely advise NOT to use the `themes`, or appearance setting, because I had to restore windows, but saved all files via, Puppy Linux. So it was gay, but ok.... Well I still use it and i love it but hate it, a love hate relationship, you could say :)

The only thing I really liked was the Styler. NOT an improvement over the earlier versions:interface is not intuitive, heavy footprint, optimizer works so-so,and defrag takes too long. Not a program I would recommend -earlier versions were better.

It installed MS word doesn't work anymore, my system beeps for about a minute during BIOS bootup before going to Windows XP, and it's now even slower. If you need to reformat, just do it. Don't try this.

Very valid in the days of XP64 because nothing else offered what it did. Rather pointless today in the Windows 7 era in light of apps like Ultimate Windows Tweaker and other freeware gems. This app no longer has relevance. THREE stars.
