FileZilla is a fast and reliable FTP client and server with lots of useful features and an intuitive interface.

50 bucks says "p2062007" is a developer for a competing, payware FTP client. OR he was just dumb enough to buy some other FTP software and is now trying desperately to justify the purchase to himself. FileZilla rocks.

With every new version it works less stable and more sluggish. Bugs are no fixed and transfer speed extremely poor. I don't want to even mention the user interface from Jurassic Park.

Few issues, if ever. Would rather see updates released quarterly and tested better instead of weekly.

SFTP speed limits fixed sort of. It works now, but either doesn't report progress correctly, or has poor performance. 2008-10-15 - FileZilla Client 3.1.4 released Bugfixes and minor changes: *nix and OS X: Avoid SIGPIPE if socket gets closed during uploads * Fix SFTP speed limits * Avoid reduntant refreshes of local file lists on some drag&drop operations * Send user agent with requests if using HTTP proxy * MSW: Add checkbox to start FileZilla to finish page of intaller * Reselect previously set default file exists action if reopening dialog on a queue item * OS X: Do not check /net whether it has subdirectories, it is extremely slow * Upon reconnecting, fall back to list current directory if last used directory is no longer accessible 2008-10-08 - FileZilla Client 3.1.4-rc1 released New features: * Configurable number of decimal places for filesize formatting * Allow editing of files with identical name but different remote paths * File changed notification displays more information * Manual transfer dialog * Quickconnect bar can be hidden * MSW: React to added or removed drive letters Bugfixes and minor changes: * Downloading updates should no longer randomly freeze the client after HTTP redirects * Huge queues should save slightly faster

It's friggen hilarious how "p2062007" does nothing but b*tch about this AWESOME program, but for some reason he is one of the first to hate on it EVERY time a new version is released! :)

I have said it many times, it works perfectly in Windows 2000. And, that non-issue aside, its a near perfect FTP client. The Server version is so good its been ported to Linux.. (never seen that before) and also works perfectly in Ubuntu, we use it here in the office. The greatest thing about it is the cross platform aspect, I can run the server on Ubuntu, and the server monitor on my Windows machine and see in real time whats going on with the server. Genius.

I love this program, but the last several version have something wrong with SFTP. When the speed is throttled, transfers don't work at all.

Re: the constant updates Unless there's a bug that's directly affecting you, or a critical update is released, you don't *have* to update every time a new version or beta is released, do you? Just update, say, once a month, or every few weeks. :) I don't mind 'constant' updates, or nightly builds/etc. - I just take it as an indication the devs are actively working on the program, good or bad. :D

Great free FTP client. Better than many so-called "professional" $$$ ones. Can an admin remove the duplicate reviews from p2062007?

Listen, I have been using Filezilla for years. I have recommended it to many friends in the tech field. But, this "update every few days" dealie has got to stop. It is Thursday and this will be my second install of FZ this week. Love ya Tim, but please - fewer updates.

Wonderful FTP client with plenty of advanced options and all the encryption mechanisms that I desire. I only rate down a point due to the mechanism of distributing updates. While I love frequent updates, I dislike having to download the entire package each time and running install. A real updater inside the application would be very useful.

First app I install on any new system.

The people who complain about too many updates are usually those who are the first to conplain when there are not enough. I am happy that the program is being actively developed and can only say to the moaners, "Sod off"!

DrTeeth You really ought to read what people say before you shoot your loud mouth off. This is what mdmower really said about updating FileZilla and I think its a really good idea for a future version: "I only rate down a point due to the mechanism of distributing updates. While I love frequent updates, I dislike having to download the entire package each time and running install. A real updater inside the application would be very useful." He is talking about incremental up-dating, like the Mozilla packages do. Life is a bit short for your type of behaviour. Back to FileZilla; a fantastic piece of software, thanks to those who spend so much time developing it. Regards, Peter

Yes, fast and nice. But I don´t like it, that passwords are stored as plain text. C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Application Data\FileZilla xml - files -huh ! Not everyone touching my PC has to know the password....

You can always set "Config Location" in fzdefaults.xml to a TrueCrypt container to protect yourself from prying eyes. Four out of five for taking so much installation footprint over 2.x.
