mjm01010101: You get that only first time after you install it, so its not an issue at all and infact helping the author helps rest to enjoy such a great freeware.

Would be nice to get rid of the splash screen that says "please report any bugs that you encounter." Why as an end-user am I responsible for doing that for them when I'm not a tester? reddy.shyam (above) I get it every time I run the installer executable on first run of the program.

Funny how all the bad reviews are always an exact copy of their previous review. They never give it another shot, just here to troll.

Funny how fanboy reviews avoid discussing the product in favor of attacking its critics. I downloaded the latest version when it was released a couple days ago. I deleted it shortly thereafter, because the feature set was just as disappointing as it was in the older versions. Maybe, just maybe, the negative reviews are the same version after version because very few of the complaints are being addressed. Nah...

Great client. I use LeapFTP and for me, the simplicity of the interface and quick start up time are the most important factors in an FTP client. I do not believe that an FTP program should have a complicated, fancy interface - it should just be streamlined, easy to use, and fast. Filezilla is excellent and the best choice. I do, however, use LeapFTP for one reason still -- the fact that the transfer window and system messages window are able to appear below the local and remote file listings at 50% each - thus my program has 4 windows in a perfect 2x2 grid. It would be so simple for this to be added and I'd then make the switch.

Crashes on exit. 3.0.8.1 didn't. You connect fine, do your thing and all is when. Then you exit and lo-and-behold Dr. Watson appears. EDIT: If you uninstall the previous 3.0.8.1 version and delete the two folders in both Program Files and under your User Name\Application directories and THEN install the new version it doesn't crash. There must be some holdover dependency from the previous version that conflicts. Upgrade to FOUR stars - that holdover needs to be addressed.

No crashing here. I connected to several ftp and sftp sites.

I love this product and use it as my only FTP client. I upgrade every few weeks when a new version comes out, but honestly, what is updated??? It looks and acts the same as it did 18 months ago.

Filezilla has always supported sftp. Craziness below.

Excellent FTP program, with a lot of features. Supports standard, and secure FTP services. I have been using it for a long time.

One of the #1 free clients. GUI sucks big time though.

WinSCP would definitely be a competitor with this for my usage, accept that it doesn't support bandwidth throttling. This is the most well rounded, and bloat free FTP client available. @cowgaR: How can you complain about lack of eye candy in FileZilla, then praise WinSCP? It is every bit as plain and eye candyless as this. Also WinSCP has no FTPS support.

Still suffers from same stability issues as previous versions (constantly crashes with SFTP). GUI is very user unfriendly. Overrated because it is FOSS.

3.0.10 (2008-05-20) - Precompiled binaries available from filezilla-project.org now link against GnuTLS 2.2.5 due to security vulnerabilities in previous GnuTLS versions, see http://www.gnu.org/software/gnutls/security.html 3.0.10-rc2 (2008-05-15) - MSW: Performance improvements. Windows is inherently flawed since it does not cache directory contents. 3.0.10-rc1 (2008-05-14) + Commandline arguments, see manpage for details + Columns in file lists can be reordered or hidden by right-clicking the column header + Added some useful links to help menu - Don't send redundant MKD commands to server if multiple transfers want to create the same directory multiple times - Fix sizing problems with some interface layouts

Still not good usable for me and still missing important features like it is in v2.x (how many files and size is in the directory or selected). v2.x is good but has a big problem with many files. So both versions I can't unfortunately recommend it at the moment. I hope >v3.1.0 will be "usable".

p2062007 filezilla has never crashed for me, and all I use it for is sftp, two sites a day, connecting constantly.

Crash with SFTP and Vandyke still not fixed. And still only SFTP version 3 support.
