4t Tray Minimizer lets you running applications minimized as System Tray icons, which helps in adjusting free space on your taskbar. To minimize any application to the task bar, simply left click the minimize button as usual or press keyboard shortcut. You can configure it to automatically hide/restore specific applications by pressing specific keyboard shortcuts.

The best software doesn't have frills and does what it's supposed to. I've been using this for a couple of years and never had an issue. Best of all it's free! I don't like the buttons it adds on the Title Bar, but guess what? You can just disable that feature!

Loved this program for many years. The free version works perfectly for almost anyone and there is no need to buy anything further. Does not officially support Vista. The buttons that are used to minimize applications are not there but you can either manually put into the minimizer or guess where the buttons should be. The software needs an update to get rid of these annoyances. If you are using any supported version of the software (NT/2000/XP) this is a fine program. If you are running Vista it is very buggy. An update is gravely in need though there is no other free minimizer out there that I know of that works as well as this one.

I can disable the extra buttons next to minimize and customize how programs are minimized. Works with every program I try it with. Programs with custom skins require right clicking on the task bar,but it is still capable of minimizing those. =] I have been using this program for over a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. All in all, I highly recommend it. =]

Does what it's supposed to do. Almost too complicated for it's own good. Not truly freeware, restrictions exist. The CNet summary says this freeware has no limitations. This shareware version does not save the applications you want to minimize to tray after you restart. This "feature" is only available in the paid version. Description fail guys, description fail.

Frees up space on the task bar, auto-hides the task if required. And it's FREE! Can't fault it.

Allows you to minimize programs to the system tray or a list in the interface, hide the system tray, assign shortcuts, and more. The icons in the interface are a little bland, but who really cares? The coding matters much more than the visuals!

It appeared to allow me to minimize to the system tray as I wanted. When 4t Tray Minimizer was installed, Windows Vista Contacts, would not operate correctly. It operated just like any other folder. When I uninstalled 4t Tray Minimizer, it again worked correctly. Couldn't use the product because of the problem with Windows Vista Contacts above.
