Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded. The display consists of two sub-windows. The top always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that it is in. The unique capabilities make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.

I use it every day. Can't imagine using Windows without it.

taken from http://blogs.technet.com/b/sysinternals/: This update to Process Explorer introduces cycle-based CPU usage on Windows 7, shows usage for processes that consume less than 0.01% CPU, shows thread ideal processors on Windows 7, and adds the ability to remote control and connect to other logon sessions.

Does the job. I'm able to run it along with Task Manager to make sure one or the other isn't lying. So far, they've both been honest with each other. I'm thinking of running System Explorer with the other two, to make sure all three of them aren't somehow in cahoots with each other.

At last you can see what's going on in there!! Can be complicated to follow what's going on at times. Realise its difficult to improve the view tho Download it now!

It's too easy and simple to understand. but more of a must to know what and in relation things are running on your unit in respect to what environments, applications, and processes. Nothing what so ever.

Workes Well Would like a link to web to understand where the file comes from and if it is truly needed.

Easy to install. Simple to use even for non-tech type None that I can think of. Probably the most useful utility I have on my computer. After all this time finally helped me pummel Vista into a configuration that works for me.

Loved this tool up until now The display of "< 0.01" or "< 1" for CPU is annoying and distracting and quite obviously should be an option. If there is an option to display or not display this, I can't find it. Sure do hope they fix this. For now, I've reverted to earlier version.

Easy to install takes no time at all. Easy to use. A big improvement on Windows standard task manager. No complaints What I find hard to figure out is; This is a free program published by Microsoft. (or one of their companies) So why don't they just add it to Windows as standard!

Ease of use and detailed information on all programs running and how much system resources are being consumed. Very good. type is a little small in default mode. I would definitely recommend this to new users and intermediate level users for speed and clarity if no other reason.

The review above says "You can learn which Internet Explorer 8 process controls which tab" (finally!). Does that work with IE9, also? IE9 is the most common reason for me to use Process Explorer, and I don't want to wait another 4 years. see above... see above...

Free. Reliable. Use it to see what is running and what is hogging system resources. Can R-click and "Kill" any prog causing a problem. Fairly slow to load & start (but worth it mostly). See Pros & Cons.

One of the only truly great Windows utilities. Like said below: I can't imagine running Windows without it.

It shows you everything, and I mean everything. It would be nice if it had an explanation for everything in layman's terms to help regular but interested people judge whether a process actually is sucking slowing down their computer.

Shows you every process running hidden or not. Doesn't have a simple version which explains everything to you. If you aren't computer savvy then you won't understand what you're reading/looking at. 4/5 stars due to no simple version for the less computer intelligent crowd.
