Autoruns 10.05

Autoruns by Sysinternals Screenshot Autoruns Screenshot

Autoruns shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. A "show non-Microsoft only" option helps you to zoom in on third-party auto-starting images that have been added to your system. You'll probably be surprised at how many executables are launched automatically.

Extremely detailed analysis, but the separate tabs make it easy to understand what is being loaded and when. Whats not to like? This is one of those indispensable utilities that you will probably rarely use but when you do need it, it really gets the job done.

Get it. Use it *IF* you Google processes FIRST before deciding to stop or delete. In time you'll come to know the various names (keep a log of what stays and what can go). It doesn't take much time. Would be nice if someone was able to comprehensively provide definitions for processes making the start/stop/delete task so much easier. Get it. Use it *IF* you Google processes FIRST before deciding to stop or delete. Doing so is not that big a deal. In time you'll come to know the various names (keep a log of what stays and what can go). You can significantly effect the way your PC runs if you keep processes "tidy".Makes easy the job of accessing running processes in various areas of your computer. Easy UI makes it quick study to find and stop/delete runs. For free program, it's all you need. ***MAKE CERTAIN you Google ANY processes you are uncertain about stopping. Even then, rely on articles namely from LifeHacker.com & MakeUseOf.com to feedback what's what.

I love this program. I use it regularly to see what's new in my 'startup' if any. It makes it really easy to see everything that's in your startup and disable it. One of the best attributes and why it's on my must have list, is it portability, being able to put it on my jumpdrive for when I'm helping others... Great program! Wow. I never knew so much stuff loads up on a Windows start. Stuff I have never heard of, this program will list. Of course, it picks up the third party stuff, so you have to be careful of what you disable with this program. Nice!

Identifies an amazing amount of crapware startup processes that you never knew were there. Non that spring to mind. Excellent tool for advanced / experienced / power Windows users.

Great tool to set startup preferences and eliminate unecessary programs especially if you use a multiuser setup. Lots of tabs and possibilities can be overwhelming for a beginner. Great tool, best so far that I found to do the job.

Powerful, Effective - - one of Microsoft's best tools. Dedicated help forum at http://forum.sysinternals.com/forum16.html Requires a little study to use. That is not really a "con" but this site requires something in this field. A search for this program on microsoft.com usually finds nothing because technet searches are different. For help on using this program, go to Microsoft's Technet site at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Quick, simple, user friendly. None I can think of, except requires restart to kill what you want to shut down.
