GSpot by Steve G Screenshot GSpot Screenshot

GSpot identifies presence or absence of "B-VOP", "Qpel", and "GMC", thus allowing the user to determine if a DivX5 file is compatible with KISS and other popular hardware DivX players. Provides information about MPEG1 or MPEG2 video and/or MPEG1 or MPEG2 audio either as "elementary" streams or multiplexed into an MPEG1 "system stream" or an MPEG2 "program stream". Limited support for MPEG4 video when contained in an AVI stream, such as DivX5.

I haven't a clue I haven't a clue This is a very clever pgm, so clever that, until I got the TechTracker notice that it needed updating.I wasn't even aware that I had it on board. As soon as I was aware of it, I had to find it pdq because it gave the impression of being some pornographic pgm - "GSpot", how ludicrously misnamed! Anyway, where it came from in the first place I don't know, especially since I seem to have had it from sometime in 2007. How has it remained so successfully hidden ever since? And you can't find it under GSpot, oh no: it's under ACE Mega CoDecS Pack, as a Search soon ascertained.I haven't used it yet, so I haven't a clue what to expect from it. All I am aware of is that news videos are interminably slow, with frequent stops whilst the next bit of info is being downloaded. And for a repeat, the system is so magnificently clever that, oh no, the video doesn't remember that it's already been downloaded, but it starts form the beginning again, with all the stops. So, at the moment, I am not impressed. By clicking on three stars I'm merely being fashionable.

Free; Portable, so no need to install. Help pages are a bit geeky, poor explanations, and have not been updated to the latest version. I just needed to know what codec was used to process a movie clip, and this did the job. there's a load of other stuff but the help page is just so badly written that I had trouble staying awake. Had this been better I'd have given it more stars.
