WindowBlinds 7.01

WindowBlinds by Stardock Corp. Screenshot WindowBlinds Screenshot

WindowBlinds is a program that allows you to completely change the look and feel of Windows to however you want it to look like. It allows you to completely customize your desktop by changing the style of title bars, buttons, and toolbars. You can change the look of buttons and check boxes by assigning them skins, or personalities, and you can assign buttons that will launch programs to toolbars. You can create your own skins, choose from the four that are included in the program, or download additional ones. You can also choose to exclude certain programs from WindowBlinds if you don't want to change their appearances.

I liked the options and themes available as well as the ease of use. Poor results. I chose one of the plainest options, the monitor showed a hugely magnified window, lost the Start button, and the windows moved in a very choppy way as they were opened or closed. I uninstalled the program, choppiness continues. I am very disapppointed in the product, since the company has other programs which I quite like.

Nothing--Nada --Nunca Not only did i use this software for 30 minutes i aksed the company to refund my money and they first offered me 75% payment and then offered me ZERO. Total froze my computer. It has spyware. What kind of company does not refund the total in less than 24 hours in my mind is a complete unetheical company and new customers should be wared not to buy from them.

HI, Nice to know about this forum WindowBlinds 7.1 where you can find it more features....

-Great visual UI when in the program-Easy to apply themes-Lot of built-in customization options-Wide range of downloadable themes-Trial period -Difficult to install themes-Not all options work on all OS versions-High price considering the free alternatives I love theming my Windows XP SP3 machine - I really do. I especially liked the ease of downloading a theme to my desktop, only to find a WindowsBlinds file. Two weeks ago, I finally broke down and purchased Windows Blinds. So let's start with the good: It's a powerful program. It can be used by the tech-savvy and those less so. There are many built-in features, and when you add in the thousands of themes available, you have almost unlimited options for you desktop. Almost.Unfortunately, WindowsBlinds' features aren't for all systems. On Windows XP, I was unable to activate transparent window frames. Even more, when I went digging through the settings for a similar option, it was greyed out. $19.95 for greyed-out options. *Sad face*Another thing I wasn't satisfied with was the proccess of installing themes. Though most installations were successful, there were at least two themes that I couldn't load up. And some of the default Windows themes - that's right, people, made by Microsoft themselves - wouldn't load. It just went to the Windows Classic theme. I later researched this problem, and found out that this seems to happen to cracked versions. THIS got me mad, because I paid twenty bucks for this thing - I didn't download a crack. Maybe a glitch; but still a problem. The last thing I want to note is the price. While people seem to buying it up anyways, there are free alternatives. Themes can be downloaded that aren't for WindowsBlinds, and I use TrueTransparency for clear window frames.Overall, this is an above-average program for those who strongly want it - but don't forget that there are definitely some pretty good alternatives, too.

I have had issues with WB & 'Prevx' which was sorted by lowering system guard on 'Prevx'. (Not an ideal solution). I agree dougau with all the free themes available on 'Win 7' It's not as useful as it used to be.

The program is kinda neat...I would never pay for it though. I downloaded this because it's supposed to be a CNet Exclusive. I'm not sure where the exclusivity comes into play. Without any CNet Exclusive benefit like being free the application is a waste of space and resource usage. For people who like "pretty things" the $20 will be a worthwhile expenditure. For those like me who only occasionally enjoy a visual change of pace $20 just isn't worth it.

stevvie "Machine (windows7 Q6600@3Ghz4Gig ram) takes quit a performance hit with this installed. Using Visualstyles and a patched uxtheme there was none or NO seeable performance hit. Also when you uninstall this it's a bit of a mess and leaves lots of rubbish behind and even trys to start something it removed. All in all looks great but the WORST version of windowblinds I've ever tried." I agree with you. WindowBlinds 7 is the worst version i ever saw.

None to mention. AVOID : Stardock uses extremely agressive marketing methods. If you want to use any of their products you must first install the Impulse program. Impulse is only ment to get you to buy more software. AVOID : Stardock uses extremely agressive marketing methods. If you want to use any of their products you must first install the Impulse program. Impulse is only ment to get you to buy more software. Impulse is a resource hog, embeds itself in your system startup, and connects every day to their website to update itself with the most current advertisements from Stardock. On top of all that Impulse installs itself in the same folder as OpenOffice.org, an open source (= freeware) office suite. This makes removal of Impulse a precarious endeavor since you may accidentally harm your OpenOffice installation at the same time. After de-installation of Impulse there were no less than 354 registry keys, 463 values and 18 folders left that I had to remove manually with Revo Uninstaller. At the end I felt like someone qualified for neuro surgery...Because of all the facts above I can only draw the conclusion that Stardocks Impulse program qualifies as an advanced malware application !

Program looks lucrative. It looks lucrative however it contains a trojan, malwares & a dishonest program. Its really sad to see that organisation like CNeT is least bothered to check the files before uploading, its a bad impression CNeT. Please check files before making them available for download. It contains a Trojan Virus program & a malware, caught by Kaspersky Antivirus & INTERNET SECURITY 2011.

It worksIt is reliableIt is affordablethousands of "skins" available free to alter the Windows look and colors Uses some system resources, how much depends on how many bells and whistles were designed into a skin by the author. It isn't free, however, you can pay an annual fee and receive all their desktop enhancements and upgrades for that year. I have been using Windowblinds for years, due to poor eyesight. I tried just using the Windows supplied themes, as well as other desktop "skinning" programs, but I like this one best. I have rarely had any problems; the few I've had have been quickly and easily fixed. The Impulse program, which is used to obtain all the upgrades, is not my favorite feature, due to the advertising and offers to pay for desktop themes and computer-wide themes, but, they are not expensive if you want to buy them. All in all, I give this top ratings. I don't understand the overall negativity in the other reviews here? It looks to me as though the reviewers happened to be disinterested in this type of software, but went out of their way to condemn it. Windowblinds and other products from Stardock get five stars or cows or whatever from me.

easy to use, and quick few times it was buggy. initial loaded styles are limited. download your own, didn't see an automated option to download themes. very nice and useful for those who are tired of the same pc look and want some flavor.

nice to look at drag on systemthey require you to use their propriatary download programcustomer support windowblinds for xp was great. offered alot that xp didn't have, and actually ran faster than windows' shell. back then, the company seemed to genuinely care about making wb better, and customer service seemed more responsive. you also were able to download wb and updates directly, avoiding an extra (spyware laden?) downloader.my experience is that all that is gone now. wb is trying to compete with steam now, and wb customers are REQUIRED to use their downloader. and, with windows 7, windowblinds really doesn't offer anything special. it actually diminished my overall system performance.
