Fences is a one-of-a-kind program, allowing you to draw labeled shaded areas on your desktop, which become movable & resizable containers for your desktop icons. These groups can help bring organization and consistency to your computer's desktop, solving the "constant mess" problem that has plagued the desktop since its inception.

Set it and forget it; it loads every time you boot with no input required.Easy to make changes, move things around, add new fences.I'm the kind who reads directions, but I didn't need to spend more than 2 minutes doing so for this product. None noticed... Love it. It's keeping my desktop organized, and I save so much time not having to hunt for items. (I use a laptop and have different configurations with different displays and hated having to reorganize the desktop icons all the time.) This lets me do it all once, and it's VISUAL, which is even better!

Easy to use. Quick Install. Slick Interface. Easy to Customize. Requires Impulse program for updates. Pops up advertising on startup of Impulse. Excellent desktop cleanup program to corral all of your icons and help you see your wallpaper to it's fullest. I highly recommend this for anyone who has alot of icons!

We've had this software about 2 years. Never had any problems.Super easy to instal. Interface has easy instructions on how to create a fence and if you forget,, it will remind you. We've used this with Vista Home Premium 32bit, & 7 Ultimate 32bit. No Complaints here Besides being able to squash 40 icons into a square inch if they wanted and scroll till they found what they were lookin' for...or stretch that bugger out till it covers the whole page... My boys love naming the fences. That to them, and me, is pure joy!.'Video Vomit', 'Security S***', 'Art S***, 'Game S***', and my personal favorite, 'S***,S***, and More S***'

Easy to use with decent control over the appearances for a freeware version. User interface, although easy enough to use (after poking around), could be more intuitive, but it only matters for the first day of use. After that, it would mostly be down to aesthetics.

Good visual setup of the desktop. Haven't found any yet.

None that I found. I just didn't like it after I got it. I have already uninstalled it. Instead of your icons being where you can see them, it turns it into a search to find what you need. I thought I would like it, but I didn't. Probably just a personal thing, but it's not for me.

Very easy to do, hardly any set up involved None that I can see This is ideal whether you have tons of stuff on your desktop or just a few things. I love knowing everything has it's place, and can be hidden in a heartbeat. Looks great, just melds into the background, it's like having a chest of drawers right there on your desktop.

Neat little program to use if you need to organize your desktop. None really. This program does exactly what it said it does.

Wonderfully simple solution to stop moving icons on desktop during startup. none at all! The WIN7 desktop somehow does not control how the icons site themselves. They keep moving around and made it difficult to find. When I tested the FENCES, I was not hopeful but I was very pleasantly surprised as it was able to do the job perfectly! I cannot recommend it enough. Well worth the time to learn how to use it.

does what it says it does really slowed my XP system; was hoping it worked more like Win 3+ desktop folder management did. I have simple wishes. Not being able to sort icons, gotta be simple to fix. It's okay, think I'll try the competition before making a final decision. XP slowed but Win7 ran fine but still something isn't right, can't pinpoint the problem yet. I'll come back.

It works as advertised. They even do the organizing for you. Not much that I can think of. Loved how it organized my desktop initially and then I added a lot more tweaks that made this a must have.

QuickSimpleGREAT organizational abilitiesWorks! I'd like the ability to make the windows aeroglass but that's a style thing. If you want excellent, quick desktop clutter reduction for the following reasons:1. Large widescreen monitor (no more head stretching)2. Run a business in which you must utilize numerous programs3. Like to be organized and have things quick and easy to clickThen Fences is perfect, free and why are you not downloading it right now?!

Easy to use. Works as advertised No problems My needs were simple - put my desktop icons in an area of the screen that did not block my desktop photo. I downloaded Fences and configured it to do what I wanted in less than 20 minutes. I couldn't ask for more.

Simple to use, simple to set up. It not only makes organizing desktop icons so easy, but it makes maintaining that organization across varying resolutions completely transparent and effortless. None really. I have been disappointed in the past with the stability of several Stardock products, but many years have passed, and Fences running on Windows 7 appears to be rock-solid. To me, probably the most useful feature is that Fences retains the fence positions, contents, and order, yet it re-sizes when screen resolution changes. I have a laptop connected to an external monitor that I use as the primary monitor for daily use. When I want to go mobile, I disconnect the laptop from the monitor, and the dual-monitor setup reverts to a single monitor with a lower resolution. Normally, my manually-placed icons get forever jumbled, however Fences retains the position, grouping, and order. When I get back to the office, I just plug in the monitor, the screen reverts to the higher resolution, and Fences automatically reverts back to the original placement and order. It just makes using Windows much simpler.FYI, I'm using the Pro version.

Simple. Works. Provides options for showing desktop icons while hiding groups. None observed. Try it. Even for the most organized person, it can still be of assistance.
