DefenseWall HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) is the simplest and easiest way to protect yourself from malicious software (spyware, adware, keyloggers, rootkits, etc.), that can not be stopped by your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, when you surf the Internet. Using the next generation proactive protection technologies, sandboxing and virtualization, this helps you achieve a maximum level of protection against malicious software, while not demanding any special knowledge or ongoing online signature updates. No signatures, no popup windows, no false positives. It is just reliable and transparent protection, easy to use and strong.

In my opinion, this is an excellent tool. I like this product very much. I think it's better and more powerful than Sandboxie. It should be used as an extra layer of security, along with an antivirus and firewall.

Great application. I pay for very few apps, but this is one of the best I've bought. Adds a very strong layer of security to your pc and is very user friendly. The support is great as well. Several independent tests against malware have given it a 100% rating. You can surf safely with Defensewall.

Amazing application - offers very strong protection level against and 0-Day Threats, keyloggers, adware, malware, etc. Easy-to-use, very light for CPU and RAM resources, no pop-ups flooding, simple and intuitive GUI, strong HIPS, and what is also very important to me - the top notch support (Ilya Rabinovich). DefenseWall HIPS is my main defense. In my opinion this is one of a must have application.

I won't add much to what's already said in other people's posts. DW is very easy to use and efficient to protect a pc, without continually asking user yes/no to answer cryptic questions like many other programs of this kind do. It's the main security software i'm using. And there is a more recent version available (2.54), using the french localisation here (sorry for my broken english, btw).

Treats all online activity as untrusted, like Sandboxie. It has a better interface than that of Sandboxie and it is a better fit for me! It is so user friendly and light on resources. and yet adds maximum protection (99%) It is only 99% effective! just kidding, none! As long as I surf the web I need Defense Wall by my side. I can't wait for a virus to come a knocking. I want to use to STOP ATTACK BUTTON! Malware is totally helpless and unable to change your registry, because it is sandboxed. You can right click and make a download TRUSTED.If it turns out to be infected, then its a good idea to have an AV program to catch it! I highly recommend this program

Small footprint, great idea on paperIt seems to be a nice antivrus software if you can ever get it installed without it destroying all your files and freezing up your computer. It's like a box of chocolates...I never knew what to expect. This software displayed the potential to totally wreck my laptop. It conflicted with some popular antivirus software on my laptop. I had to send my laptop to a repair shop...Had to reprogram windows all over from the git' go! 1) This program did not install to the latest update2) This program did not uninstall fully3) This program caused massive, thorough, and extensive damage to my files and applications "in my view" as best as I could tell.4) Because of item 3) I had to take my laptop to a computer repair shop. After working on it for three days with debugging software he said he would have to wipe out Windows totally and reinstall my Window XP home edition. 5) This program conflicts with several popular antivirus software causing my computer to freeze up, BSD, and more.

HIPS WIPED OUT MY LAPTOP! Actually the latest public update for HIPS is 2.56 I believe. It turns out that there are still a lot of bugs with this software. It had major conflicts with microsoft essential antivirus, and several others. My experience was very bad. Hips froze my screen, and did a lot of weird things like slowing down application files from seconds to ten minutes. Long story short I had to send my laptop out to be repaired. After three days of attempting to debug my laptop the repair shop said they would have to wipe out windows and re-install everything....that also meant I had to reset my mail server connections and re-install all the many downloaded application files that i had. If you install Hips and you notice anything not right....turn off your cpu and take to the repair shop. What I noticed is that the longer I tried to fix what Hips had done the worse and more entrenched the problem became....think of pac-man crunching your files. I could not get Hips to uninstall completely and sub-files were difficult to find Having said that I do like the theory of how Hips is supposed to work and my older versions of Hips did work fine. In any case don't expect the developer to make good on returning your money. I finally had to drop most all of my other antivirus programs to get Hips to work. I am still evaluating the situation.

Seemed to be good in theory It appears to have hosed my O/S to the point of needing a bare-metal restore. My system has been rock solid and stable since I built it. I installed DefenseWall five days ago and noticed, little by little, that there were delays, intermittent Internet connectivity issues, etc., which I considered normal since a HIPS system does isolate resources on-the-fly and stops processes deemed to be malicious. Nothing out of the ordinary was appearing in DefenseWall's logs, except that it was not allowing JQSNOTIFY to work despite my best efforts to mark the process as safe.Well, this morning I got a BSOD (didn't catch the complete error since my system rebooted on its own - I'll fix that for next time) and when Win 7 came back up it was hosed beyond belief. I restored an image of the system from Windows Home Server backup prior to installation of DefenseWall and so far everything is normal.I can't prove that DefenseWall did this, but then again there was no malware and my system has never had any sort of catastrophic failure. If you want to run DefenseWall on Windows 7, I recommend that you run it on a sandbox machine for several weeks and throw normal user activities at it before you put it into production.

healer4u does not understand HIPS (nor computers) his defective Laptop had problems and he had to blame someone...... DefenseWall is a good program (how many anti-virus programs does he run at the same time???)

It blocks all downloads from browsers. It also allows you to stop all untrusted processes in 1 click. If you put a browser in the trusted category it will consider all downloads trusted as well. This is a great product, and it will rival conventional security software by 2012 is my prediction.

DefenseWall offers solid protection, and unlike classic HIPS (Malware Defender, ProSecurity, etc) you don't have to be very computer savvy to run it.. Well, maybe a bit more savvy than healer4u. "...turn off your CPU"? Some users rely on it for their only defense (no AV). I wouldn't suggest that for less experienced users, but in the right hands, and with some common sense, DW can be enough to keep you safe. Also, the support from the developer is incredible. Almost fanatical.

Traditional HIPS is not a sandbox. While this software is powerful, and better than its competitor Geswall, Sandboxie is far superior. Unless you like tinkering around with arcane rules and registry keys, one of which, if you get wrong could result in an infection. Virtualization and programs like Sandboxie make this kind of software unnecessary. 4 stars for functionality, but overkill is you use sandboxie and a virtualization solution.

Probably the best security application you can run on Windows. Installs quickly, requires next to no setup, but does require some reading of the help file (mainly to do with installing/updating software). Its premise is simple - internet facing apps are by default untrusted, all others are trusted. Anything downloaded from an untrusted app itself becomes untrusted, thereby eliminating any damage it can do to the rest of your system. To echo boony's comment, Ilya's support is fantastic. Do take a look at DefenseWall.
