AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software. It is capable of removing unwanted movie features, including subtitles and prohibition messages such as copyright and FBI warnings. It also allows you to launch an external application whenever you insert or remove a disc, or prevent 'PC-friendly' software from automatically launching when you insert a video DVD.Decryption is not all that AnyDVD offers. You can control the drive speed of your DVD drive, allowing you to reduce the noise level when watching movies on your PC. You can even adjust the display frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays. It also decrypts protected audio CDs to allow you to copy them.

Best decrypter by far. Long live AnyDVD!

Best program of its kind. The continued updates are always appreciated. Great to see slysoft still supporting the DVD side of the house with the recent push to BRD. Great work!

Great program. Does what it says and it is updated often. Make you wonder about those that say it is bad but fail to say why they thinks so or what it doesn't do well. Of the few things it has not backed up for me most have been due to hardware not the software. Updating my hardware has done the trick.

More great work by Slysoft. The removing annoying stuff from BluRays needs more tweaking but things look great and the software keeps getting updated for both SD DVDs and BluRays. No other software can do what AnyDVD does, period. PS: AnyDVD 6.4.2.6 beta is out now.

Note about s'ware that phones home: Block it in your firewall. If your firewall can't block a program you need to get a firewall. ;|

dan, ur going to stick with slysoft produts?...hmm this is a slysoft product lol.

The only phone home feature is the update check which is easily disabled in the options dialog. Just do a quick check :) Anyways, continued updates, continued pleasure using and recommending this program. Top notch!

Was a huge fan of the software, but now that it calls back to their servers when using it -- this makes it kind of scary/suspicious; I was going to purchase it, but I think I will stick to products by Slysoft

I still wish they would get away from the system driver model and move towards a stand-alone EXE type of application, if for no other reason that system stability. Now that the HD-DVD/BLU-RAY battle is over, it would be nice to see a single, unified version that just handles everything from DVD to Blu-Ray. May make things easier. With the sad fact that DVDFab HD Decrypter is about the last free ripper left and it has turned into Nagware/Adware, I think if AnyDVD came out with a stand-alone executable model, people would jump all over it. I'm still not pleased that you have to pay extra for HD functionality, but as DVDFab is starting to show, there really is no free lunch. :(

No problems with system stability here. Never once has my system crashed, become unstable, or been infected by rampant malicious and rabid mutant leprechauns. This program does what it does, does it well, and does it in a manner which lets me utilize any other program to rip a dvd without first copying it to the hard disk. Good job slysoft.

I'd be severely disappointed if AnyDVD moved away from the system driver model and went to a stand-alone executable like DVDFab. The system driver is a far more elegant solution and allows one to rip a disc from anywhere in the OS using any program one wishes instead of being chained to one program with one interface like DVDFab. It's regrettable to hear that AnyDVD does not work 100% alongside InCD, but packet writing software has always been problematic & to be honest, you just don't hear about people using packet writing software anymore. I think packet writing is becoming a thing of the past due to people being fed up with the problems inherent in the technology. However, all is not a bed of roses with this program. I was fortunate to be able to buy both AnyDVD and the HD upgrade way before the new pricing structure went into effect. I was fortunate enough to take advantage of sale pricing and was able to buy both for way less than what they are asking for AnyDVD just by itself now. At its current price I really cannot recommend it to people anymore because the price is outrageous. While it's been worth its weight in gold to me, I have to deduct two stars off my rating due to the pricing structure that is out of touch with reality. Sorry, Slysoft...absolutely freaking brilliant program, but your pricing is way off base.

Throw In-CD on your system and watch it crash... They have never bothered to fix it after they broke it. It used to work ok with In-CD. It's still not the best value either, Met. Have you seen how much that program costs in US Dollars now? OMG! How can you NOT factor price into this? It is becoming HUGELY expensive as more and more competition gives up the fight. $39 USD was still pretty high, but $79 USD or higher? Unbelievable. How can anyone consider that a value, especially when they make you fork over even more just to do Blue-Ray? I think the fact that you won't consider price discredits you severely. I know you are the biggest AnyDVD fanboy ever, and that's fine, you dig the program, but as a former registered user of the app, I'm still disappointed with what it has turned into and the licensing changes. But with all the junk the DVDFab people are pulling with their free ripper, there are hardly any alternatives left at all, and that's really a bummer.

DudeBoyz, please don't categorize me as a fanboy. I rate programs as they deserve to be rated. I dont let price (free or otherwise) become a judge as to how I rate which pisses people off. This program works well. As pointed out below, InCD and like programs are quickly becoming, if not already, a thing of the past. Why would I use a technology which provides such strict limiations as packet writing does? You can write to CD/DVD directly from many major Operating systems including many linux distro's. The need for dedicated packet writing software has been just about negated. This program continues to do what it does well. It does it in a package which lets me CHOOSE how, where and with what program I rip or backup DVD and BRD content. 5/5 EDIT: Dude, that is your perogative. I judge a program on its merits and functionality (or lack thereof in cases). Price should not affect a review otherwise no one would buy cerain programs due to them being high priced. The readers which CAN afford programs should be able to find out the truth about a program not just that it "sucks because it costs too much and I cannot afford it". I am sorry you feel you wasted your money, but I feel a review should give an adequate view of what a program can/cant do not based on its price. Anyways, this will be my last response to you. So go ahead, edit your reply again and counter me. I am sorry you feel the price is high, but those of us which can afford it and see the benefit of this application can and will pay for it if we desire. Also, since AnyDVD is really a lone contender, they have the right to set the pricing structure for programs in that niche of software. Others tried freeware, but as you see it just isnt workable given the amount of work required.

Sadly, Metshrine, a fanboy is exactly what you appear to be. You always give DVDFab HD Decrypter a 1 and slam it completely in every area, and you always praise AnyDVD without acknowledging any of its faults. Not to mention the fact that you refuse to consider its' very high price into the evaluation of the product. The HD functions never should have been added as a separate cost, imo, and should have been fully included in the Lifetime Upgrade Guarantee. That, as well as value and compatibility issues are the biggest problems I have with the product, which I did purchase a license for and use for quite some time. It did used to work with InCD, without any issues. But it no longer does. It SHOULD, however. If I want to use InCD, that's my choice, and if it worked with InCD before without issue, why won't they work to ensure it still does? At this point, it's a matter of principle, as fewer and fewer folks actually use Packet Writing apps any more. The price increases are somewhat overwhelming also, and the fact that it is using a driver model and stays resident all of the time means there is a chance that more things can go wrong than if it was a stand-alone executable. There are a number of apps out there that monitor the optical drive. Some daemons emulate, some use CD copy protection to verify game disks, some try to take over any action of the optical drive so it can keep watch and start the most appropriate module from the main application package. For those reasons alone, I feel it would be better to use a stand-alone executable that loads only when needed, and then closes and frees up all resources when it does. However, my ratings for AnyDVD have gone up for two important reasons. One - they do constantly update the product - and nobody can deny that is a very good thing. Second, it is one of the very few applications left that help consumers to exercise what should be their rights as a consumer in terms of fair use. So, warts and all, I giv

Indeed the price is higher than I'd like, but it's constantly updated to meet new protections and even sometimes to add new features. If you want an example of crazy pricing, I'd steer you toward Photoshop or nearly anything made by Microsoft.

Price is certainly fundamental in the evalution of the qualities of any program, because it determines what you get for your bucks. I fully agree with a previous reviewer. AnyDVD used to be a winner back when the pricing structure was competitive, but nowadays its cost has definitely not evolved in the right direction. No I'm not a fan of DVDFab but even though it's not an "on-the-fly" decrypter, the feature set is on par with AnyDVD-HD and the price is simply unbeatable.

You always give DVDFab HD Decrypter a 1 and slam it completely in every area, and you always praise AnyDVD without acknowledging any of its faults. Not to mention the fact that you refuse to consider its' very high price into the evaluation of the product. Wrong, I slam it in TWO areas. If you read most of my dvdfab reviews, I state quite frankly it is quite the capable ripper. However, privacy issues (auto-error reports) and the new nagware problem cause me to rate it a 1. So, unless these two areas are all that exist for the program, I hardly consider my ratings as negative against every aspect of the program. To me, any sort of privacy violation is immediate grounds for a 1 rating along with any sort of nagware. Is that fair? Probably not in some peoples eyes, but it is in my eyes. Do I want some application notifying its developers that the product failed? Not without my consent. If the program fails enough for them to impliment such a mechanism it also makes me question its quality. The HD functions never should have been added as a separate cost, imo, and should have been fully included in the Lifetime Upgrade Guarantee. Again, IN YOUR OPINION. The HD Technology is a new technology. DVD, HDDVD and BRD are three completely different specifications. Just because you don't understand that doesn't mean they should go along with you and add every new format under the sun for free. They added the HD option for those who have an HD Capable drive, something that I am guessing you DO NOT have. So again, complaining about this being extra cost even thou you will likely never use it is like complaining about the additional charge for a designer stereo in a bentley despite the fact that you will likely never own one. At this point, it's a matter of principle, as fewer and fewer folks actually use Packet Writing apps any more. You said it yourself, why fix what very few people use? Thats like saying Microsoft should patch a hole in the long defunct Windows 3.11 beca
