Beyond Compare is a utility for comparing text files, folders, zip archives, and FTP sites. Use it to manage source code, keep folders in sync, compare program output, and validate CD copies. It can create a snapshot of a live directory structure, and compare it against the live copy at a later date.

Been totally satisfied with BC3, simple and good software. Only thing missing is the "pause" feature when synchronizing.

This app has everything a developer would ever want and more in an FTP util. On top of it it plays well with most IDE with makes it an even easier choice. Most file diff apps are confusing and unsightly, this is the complete opposite. I can't think of one.

Quick and easy to keep multiple computers in sync Less intuitive to get started, but once you get the hang of it you can sail I was looking for something to help me keep three computers, in two locations, synced. I am always moving around between my house and cabin and want to stay "in touch". I have everything organized in "My Directory" using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I tried Windows Live, but it is just not there yet. I went on CNET and found Beyond Compare, downloaded it and got going. Now, it's a breeze. I use Beyond Compare and a 32G flash drive to keep the three computers in sync. It takes less that 2 minutes and I'm off and going at my new location.

The comparison screen tells you in high detail, exactly what the differences are between your files and folders. And you can update (merge or copy or move or delete or whatever you want) simply, usually with just one click.

I wish it would support SFTP or FTP over SSH. I did not use BC very much except when inspecting colleague's listings, but I always got great results and it saved me hours of work. But the support of sftp would be good, as all our servers have ftp turned off by default.

Includes so many options and settings, that you really do not trust it if it's results are actually true.
