Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Free & user frndly UI. always detects same kind of malware/ spyware. I think its not a strong anti spyware tool.

Its no longer installed on my machine wont fix most problems will never use this program again it caused more problems than it fixed IObit security is 100 times more effective

For all people who think this is a outdated program it is not, it saved my computer from a virus that about 30+ anti-malware and spyware programs could not. (the virus was Win 7 desktop security) This easily removed the virus, which had edited the registry to the point that the computer could not start a program, run Windows Restore from the bios etc. I have run this on 6 PCs that Mcafee did not find anything on, SpyBot found an average of 14 virus, malware and adware programs on the computers. On a scale of one to ten I give this a 15.

Did a very thorough bot and adware scan (took about 2 hours). Did not find or stop the virus I was trying to get rid of "MS Removal Tools" virus This software is amateur hour, finding stuff in hours you could find in 10 seconds with HijackThis. Try AVG or better yet, Malware Bytes

Very long tradition; it has been one of the former anti-malaware software It looks as if it has been bypassed by more recent products. It did not identified some tracing registries found later by Ashampoo Anti-Malaware

Reliable protection at optional cost. I donate to the creator every year or so because his product has served me well and I don't mind paying for a service well provided. Can't think of any. How often do you get something really useful for free?

works good some find spyware , adware , some dont. it always takes one that can find something others dont, i use this and spyware terminator, they both work great as a combo. thanks.

Spybot S&D is one of those programs that you have to download as soon as you get a new computer or reinstall your OS

Easily one of the best antimalware in the industry. And who said that their is no such thing as a free lunch? But in this case, it comes without the lousy quality that freeware usually gives. In fact it does its purported job with optimal quality that even commercial antimalware can't give.
