Sandboxie 3.52

Sandboxie by Ronen Tzur Screenshot Sandboxie Screenshot

Sandboxie allows you to run your browser, or any other program, so that all changes that result from the usage are kept in a sandbox environment, which can then be deleted later. This allows you to remove traces of your Internet or PC activities, as well as reverse any changes to your Favorites, home page, registry and more. Even files that were downloaded during a sandbox session will be wiped after the sandbox is cleared. The program runs in the system tray and if you want to start a sandboxed session, simply launch your browser, or any other program via the tray icon, rather than the regular way.

Looking for the safest way to browse the net, find it all packaged up in a "boxie" for you. Sandboxie, try this out and you will never be without it again. No cons: keeps your pc free of bugs, thugs, and viruses. Remember to clean it out occasionally though.

keeps everything in a sandbox wish it worked the same in a 64 bit system as a 32 bit editing settings couldve been easier best front line security

Still great product as always. Just a few comments to below; if your key isn't working, get ahold of the developers and get it straightened out. The only people who are really seem to be having issues with it are the ones using a keygen. On-line activation is not spyware, that's just nonsense. Many applications and games use this exact same license model. Ask anyone using a volume license with Office 2010 for example. XP 64 bit was always a "half-breed" as best; if you want a real 64 bit OS, move up to 7, which Sandboxie works perfectly with. You can't reasonably expect developers to support an operating system that's *two* generations behind now; shoot even Microsoft doesn't support it anymore minus the occasional security patch.

I use Sandboxie, and as far as I can tell it's still free for personal use. The infrequent nag screen doesn't bother me one bit, and if required to I would buy a license. This is good software and well maintained.

No good sides at all. For the second time , Ive seen a BSOD when I tried to uninstall sh..tboxie.(firs time was when I let guy from bleepingcomputer to repair my pc.Luckily for me I know something and I was able to recover using safe mode and jv16 powertools. There are outthere proven security programs. Why change something that was around forewer?********* sucks, one star is too much,I had to give it because there is no option for minus score!

One thing I like about this program is that it enables me to sometimes have 2 instances of the same program running side by side and I can compare the results side-by-side for any differences or I can simply have another instance running that would not normally be allowed to run in the same operating system.

-Works as stated-Protects your computer from...well...you-Small and efficient -Has a learning curve (what doesn't?)-May affect system performance over time (I'll explain) Although I don't use Sandboxie at this point, when I did use it, it worked great. Think of it like a system restore that always works. I've actually contemplated getting Sandboxie again, only for the practically guaranteed protection that simply can't be provided by ANY anti-virus software. If you interpret my "protection" as meaning "protection against viruses"...no. That is not the context. A firewall, anti-malware software, and anti-virus is meant for that. If you interpret my "protection" as meaning "protection against the effects of viruses, etc."...now you're cooking with gas. Although I would never recommend treading the internet without a firewall and anti-virus software (I recomment Microsoft Security Essentials for the genuine Microsoft Product holders out there), in reality, if you know what you're doing on the internet, you could very well go without it and not suffer and long lasting effects. if you're like me, you re-install your Operating System several times per year. For the most part, Windows has a reputation of simply breaking down over time because of the additions and deletions from the Registry. Registry cleaners work (to some extent, I guess--I don't use those) but they aren't full-proof (nor fool-proof). The best way to combat this, in my opinion, is installing a sandbox to play in and delete whatever has happened during your session once you're done. For things that are essential (like Windows Updates, or known, trusted software), install them outside of the sandbox... I think this is an essential layer of protection for any PC. To be clear: Install Windows (XP/Vista/7)Install all device drivers Install all essential software (AV/FW/MS Office/Daemon Tools/Google Chrome/IE9-B)Install SandboxieAdjust your settings so that, say, Windows Updates updates outside of the sandbox.

I would like to be able to choose the drive you want to use for its sandboxed data files ... seems to default to C:\sandbox\user.

It doesn't support Windows XP 64 which is kinda sad. @therube Have you actually checked that out?: Proof: http://img225.imageshack...g225/2396/sandboxie.png Besides: from http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7304 : "XP 64bit is not supported. Period."

Rated 40/50 by therube at Dec 17, 2010

Sure it does. You just need to get it from the correct place: "Beta Version 3.51" http://www.sandboxie.com...bb/viewtopic.php?t=9320 (Unless, & I don't know, they dropped support for XP in 3.51? The 3.50 release certainly does support XP x64.)

I like this program for the abilities to test new applications and not be scared of the downsides of doing so, but in addition/option to testing with a VM operating system. Until next time, Larry Henry Jr. LEHSYS.com

BufferZonePRO - I said PRO - is being offered for free in a special, most certainly temporary, giveaway basis. If you guys are interested, you can get it from the following address: http://www.trustware.com/download/ I am in no way related to Trustware. Greetings from Brazil. Hey, @KU ! YOU have no right to delete anything whatsoever! Who do you think you are? God? No, you're just KU!, which, in my country, means ASS! By pointing out to BufferZone, I was just trying to be kind and generous... But, OK, if BufferZone is not enough for you, try these instead (MUCH BETTER, REALLY SECURE and UNHACKBABLE!): http://dl.360safe.com/md_setup_en.exe (now a freeware HIPS); http://antivirus.comodo.com (Comodo Antivirus features an excelent sandbox layer of protection, besides being a very efficient antivirus and HIPS! And it's FREE! It costs ABSOLUTELY NADA, NADICA DE PORRA NENHUMA!) http://www.softsphere.com (DefenseWall - shareware!). Now which of these do you think I am related to? Fuc! you! With your passionate, biased, positive review in aid of Sandboxie, YOU seem RELATED to it!!!

Very very useful and good value for the money. I have dedicated Sandboxes for my browsers, some games (I don't want additional garbage that comes with some games on my "real" system) and other progs. I also use it to test programs sandboxed before installing them....hell, I've also run viruses/malware just for fun. My OS is speedy&clean thanks to Sandboxie. 1000 Stars

Any Adware/Malware seems to be contained. Any browser settings or new bookmarks are not saved. To have add new bookmarks or favorites you have to operate outside of the sandbox. Once you are beyond 30 days of use, you have their flash-screen every time you start Sandboxie.

Sandbox and be safe, you can go wrong, just learn its basic operation 1st, its fairly straight forward. Go to their main page if you get stuck I haven't come across any issues yet Sandboxie is the program to use if you want to run almost anything in a safe environment, Internet explorer for example, sandbox it 1st and whatever you do and wherever you go on line, you can feel assured that your machine is safe and clean, everything that came from the net will be gone as soon as you close IE... But sandboxie can do even more than that, you can sandbox virtually anything and know that it can't do any harm to your system... oh and with IE, if you have downloaded anything, sandboxie will ask you if you want to keep your download and gives you the option to save it, or them...

Small download, very small memory usage, powerful software, program is NOT crippled after trial period is over, secure deletion method offered, very stable, can sandbox several programs in one sandbox, 64-bit and 34-bit support. None that I can think of. I don't open my browser without first sandboxing it with sandboxie, not only does it provide protection to your computer, you can also save your privacy at the end of your web surfing by terminating and deleting the sandbox. It provides support for 34-bit and 64-bit windows, though the 64-bit version differs slightly due to PatchGuard - I'm a 64-bit user, so if you are as well, check out their website for further information. Not only is it for browsers, but you can use it for pretty much any other software. You can try out new software in Sandboxie without being in fear of catching a virus or it being rogueware. For first time users, I suggest you spend 10 minutes learning on how to use it properly. It's not very hard to use at all for those who are computer illiterate. I usually don't write reviews on software, but this has to be one of the most useful programs I've used. It's a small download, but it provides excellent protection for your computer by creating a sandboxed environment and isolates anything inside of it and stops it from doing ANYTHING outside of the sandbox (your computer). If you do happen to catch a virus from a website and you're lucky enough to be a sandboxie user, don't fear, you can easily destroy the threat to your computer by terminating the sandbox and then deleting it via the menu and continue on web browsing. Not only is this software protection for your computer, but your privacy as well. You can use a secure deletion method (not able to retrieve after it's been deleted). This is a must have for those who want to be protected by all sorts of viruses out on the internet.

I find it interesting that MCHAL rates Sandboxie 1 out of 5 and does not post a review of Sandboxie but instead advertises another program. Then at some point replies to a comment from KuHGl and this is where you get a pretty good idea of the type of person MCHAL is. But you read both comments and you decide. I have used Sandboxie in the past and it works great.

I love it, works as advertised. As for MCHAL? Now we know the REAL 'Brazil Nuts'
