Sandboxie 3.52

Sandboxie by Ronen Tzur Screenshot Sandboxie Screenshot

Sandboxie allows you to run your browser, or any other program, so that all changes that result from the usage are kept in a sandbox environment, which can then be deleted later. This allows you to remove traces of your Internet or PC activities, as well as reverse any changes to your Favorites, home page, registry and more. Even files that were downloaded during a sandbox session will be wiped after the sandbox is cleared. The program runs in the system tray and if you want to start a sandboxed session, simply launch your browser, or any other program via the tray icon, rather than the regular way.

Works very well......BUT....... it's a bit of an odd spin on a "security" program, since it wants to call home as much as ET. Stick with the free version, which is less eager to sniff out reg code cheaters.

* Run almost any program* If malware gets in the sandbox it will not damage the PC* Free* Small footprint* Very little (If any) performance loss to the sandboxed program. *After 30 days you will start to get a 10 second delay. * If you made any changes to a program while it is in the sandbox (Like new add-on for Firefox) you will have to do them outside of the sandbox to keep them I have been using this for over 2 years now. I can say that I am very happy with it. After I have started to use it I have been getting no malware on my PC due to going to a wrong web page or a poisoned site. The removal of any malware that does manage to get in the sandbox is easy to remove by deleting the sandbox. As the malware cannot move outside of the sandbox the rest of the computer is safe. Any new download can be "recovered" or taken out of the sandbox. As a Firefox user there are many add-ons to chose from. If I find one that looks useful to me. I will try it with Firefox within sandboxie first so see if there are any problems with it. If I wanted to keep the new add-on I will have to open Firefox normally to install the add-on. Bookmarks are the same way.Even if you do use this I still recommend that you also have a firewall, anti-virus, and malware protection on your PC. It is recommended that you delete the sandbox at lest once a week. The only down side to this is the delay that you get after 30 days of use for the program to start. You will have to buy it to get it to start without the delay.

Not perfect, but very good. Not as good as Comodo, however. If you want a reasonably good and light sand box, I recommend Sanboxie.Since Comodo's Internet Security Suite has a good sand box, I won't be using it any more. If I should ever drop Comodo (like if they would go commercial), I will go back to Sandboxie.

sorry but Sandboxie is better than Comodo...... Comodo is second best

Because of Windows 7 patch protection "drop rights" is checked by default on 64bit setups. If you want "full" Sandboxie protection you'll have to run 32 bit-- XP, 7, or whatever. Still, this is the best sandbox solution available. BufferZone's 64bit sandbox is still in beta, and I really don't know much about it. Avast's and Comodo's integrated sandboxes are probably no more effective, and lack the functionality/ granularity of Sandboxie, and as they say, if you want 100 % pc security.....

Sandbox environment is convenient, documentation makes for easy learning curve, I have never seen or heard of any type of malware getting by it. Icon and UI could be prettier, nag screen to upgrade (just reinstall to fix), there are some notable program incompatibilities listed on their site. I still use an AV but it feels kind of pointless with this program running. I suppose you could acquire a keylogger and then compromise some logins before dumping the sandbox but that's really the only loophole I see. The paid version looks even better but its a bit on the expensive side for me (although far cheaper than paid AV suites).

Seems a lot lighter on resources than I thought possible. Seems to work pretty seamlessly. Takes a while to get a handle on everything.. My biggest reservation, despite hearing only good things about this program, was the fear of conflicts, crashing and heavy resources. So far so good on all of these issues. I have pretty good protection already..but wanted to try this out when simple surfing for clip art almost hooked me with that crazy security 2011 virus more than a few times. My malware/virus protection did work but it felt a little too close for comfort. What's crazy these days is that you can get infected doing the most common tasks of just surfing around...and if your other protection has a bad day..you can have this to feel a little safer. . I'll update after a month. But those short on resources ..don't worry about this program hogging them.

Quite nice program, with some bugs.....and the strange pricing of it make me not buy it.

Nice program, but seriously, 34.5 euros is way to much for this program.

I was able to figure out how to change the drive and be able to sandbox data on another drive other than C:\ so I've been able to encrypt the data with a TrueCrypt virtual drive on one of my faster drives. I've also been trying Bufferzone with similar although not identical results.
