It is fairly simple to use. It crashes all the time and tends to block things you've told it not to. It isn't worth the effort you have to take just to keep it running.

NO PROS IF DCOM 135 IN WINDOWS XP IS ENABLED when found that either privatefirewall or its sidekick id vaulot was enabling dcom 135...any one who reads grc.com ...steve gibson labs already knows that this opening of dcom invites worms virus etc...enough said...DAMIEN What does DCOM do for you?...FROM GRC.COM WEBSITEWell let's see . . . it attracts Internet worms and permits your system to be remotely compromised by malicious hackers. Other than that, it's of absolutely no practical use other than to adorn Microsoft's "We Have That Too" chart. There may be some custom corporate application developers who have managed to make some use of it, but mostly no one ever has. Nonetheless, it's there in Windows so that the competitors' CORBA isn't.

Quick and easy to setup, user friendly, not bloated.Intuitive menus and interface. Not a resource hog and seamless integration with the operating system.Great alerts None that I've discovered at this juncture. A great firewall/HIPS product that is continually being improved and which not only offers great performance but great customer service as well.Highest recommendation.

The developer's website says it is compatible with Win Vista and 7, both 32 and 64 bit. Time to update this webpage guys.

As long as the .22... doesn't change (drivers), you can do an in-place Upgrade install, and not have to go through the "tiresome" uninstall/reinstall/rebuild every-time!-Fast support response, when you submit a ticket on their website! None so far (I've happily used it since August 2010)! Zone Alarm, Online Armor (2-year beta tester, and Trust Everything is Not Good!- hidden Malware too!), and the rest of the big names I've tried- have become "Buggy" Bloatware!I hope PF stays lean & fast! What's wrong with the firewall in Windows 7 ?

Rated 30/50 by u3912974 at Jan 6, 2011

It seems to work on Windows 7 x64 but my only question is 'Is it better than Norton 360 version 4 's firewall?

Actually JackRegan it's a very good firewall.A few friends have installed it without hassle, IMHO I recommend it. JackRegan:- I must say your posts are most enlightening. Do you feel it lifts to to the dizzy heights of some kind of wise sage with your enigmatic pointless stupid posts. It's you who are the hoax - The phantom DVDFab poster, we seek him here we seek him there we seek him bloody everywhere.

Very good security has helped me out greatly in the past, a must have. No cons, arguably the best free firewall there is.

seems to work hard little to no controll over the very basic principals of a firewall unistalled and never looked back

Having been around the net for a while, I found this little gem to be best suited for my needs. Not a mem. hog, no probs. on either XP or the latest version of ME, Vista, yet another piece of crap don't you think.Do use PF its highest settings, No cons, but you do need the likes of malwayre bytes and Spybot Search and Destroy to cover what your chosen anti virus programme does not cover.

It appears simple to use. It kept causing Internet Explorer to freeze. Program settings often couldn't be changed because the program's main window's link to the program control bit rarely if ever worked. I had to uninstall it because of all the times it caused IE to freeze and the difficulty accessing the controls that decided what was blocked. It does, however, sort of work when its not causing things to freeze.

This is very easy to configure and is light on system resources. I've been using this for a while and have had no problems at all. None that I know of. In my opinion it's one of the best available, it does what it says it does.

After trying so many, I find this one best. Lite, objective and powerful, hopefully it will stay like that and not go bloated like most other softwares.
