After an age of small improvements (and no complaints cos it was already so great) comes a whopper of a GUI update... and yeah, he got it right. The only media player I know that the user has full control over.... unbeatable.

I can't judge the new default interface, because I never looked at it; I'm still using the simple yet highly effective interface I tweaked via ColumnUI (and no, that wasn't difficult, and didn't take hours. It was instead quite easy, taking only 15 minutes). This was, and remains, the best audio player I've ever used, and one of the best pieces of software overall. I could only wish that it ran a bit better in Linux (under WINE) than it does. Rhythmbox is the closest thing to it in Linux, but with a few nagging issues resolved, it would easily be the best player for both Windows AND Linux.

everything that has been said before ... best player ever, and it is portable. the new customizable interface is great and easy to use in regards of what you can do with it. Put many non-freeware software developper to shame.

I love Foobar2000 but I think it's time they change it's name to FoobarXP... because they feel the need to drop the only good version of Windows... but whatever...

Still the best but seek forward/backward don't work when playing aac file. Please, restore the keyboard control of the track (left, right). That was good for me. That's all, thanks!

If you are after flexibility and quality of sound this is THE player to choose.

Ok Ok. I take my previous bad review back. I'm in! It's a tweaker's dream come true. Personally I'm mostly using it for internet radio streaming, and I've found nothing touches it. Screamer? Give me a flipping break. It's dead. The developer has left it a buggy mess.

Every release brings foobar2000 to levels of perfection found in no other software. It's not only an incredible audio player, it's also a shining example of how to develop good software for Windows. Power? Check. Simplicity? Check. Extensibility? Check. Attractiveness? Check. Accessibility? Check. On top of that, there's no crappy skinned UI to force you to relearn everything. Just nice Win32 UI that changes with your Windows theme. I've been using this program since the first public version, and I keep finding new things to love about it. This program keeps me using Windows.

been a Foobar user for a long time now... but i'm sticking with the 0.945 version for now... where did the Per User setting go in the installer window?? i like my foobar to be portable... now i can't make it portable... and the 0.95+ version has some issues with the kernel streaming output[crashes like crazy]... hope they fix this soon and i really want the Per user setting back!!

@dpcdpc11 I don't like that the per user setting is missing too but have a look here http://www.softpedia.com...rtable-foobar2000.shtml New layout isn't all the impressive especially when the guys working on it criticised the author of panelsUI which seems to be the most used plugin BUT its still a must have piece of software (not in beta) for every Windows user

Absolutely love foobar after resisting and using WinAMP for the longest time. I've used foobar now for over a year and resisted the new UI for 0.9.5 beta (in favor of Columns UI) initially - but have now embraced and love it. I would like FooBar to incorporate the ability to edit ID3 tags from the playlist like iTunes (and like the optional ColumnsUI Interface). That functionality is the only thing I'm missing.
