Ditto is an extension to the standard windows clipboard. It saves each item placed on the clipboard allowing you access to any of those items at a later time. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, images, html, custom formats.

Freeware from sourceforge. That's a first. I use clipx but will give this a go. (again) Same as last time. Copying a picture produces a much too small (incomprehensible) bitmap with the title "CF_DIB" (wtf is that?)and this alone makes it a worthless program compared to clipx which will show the picture in any size you like. Clipx also has a stickie plugin which is good for something you always don't want to type (but are asked to do so consistently like an email addy). Plus ditto starts out with some weird a** font that is totally unreadable and you must select a 'custom' (as in english) font. Fix the copying a picture issue so that you can click the tray icon and you see a smaller version of the image. I really don't need a cf_dib title for every unrecognizable picture I copy. I like the always stay connected to clipboard option but the program is rather useless compared to the simplicity & usefulness of clipx. Really, 100 options for a clipboard manager and you can't even use it without 5 mouseclicks for every entry?

I use ClipX myself. I tried this a few months ago and got rid of it in minutes. Thought I'd try it again today when I saw the new version, and man, it's come a long way. This is a very good clipboard program now, and it a fairly short time. anomoly's review was a bit harsh, 5 clicks to what??? The comment about the thumbnails I have to agree with though. Anyway, I rate it 5 for both the distance it's come in the few months since I last tried it and how nice it is to use now.

superb clipboard utility. you can copy all the stuff you want from anywhere and then retrieve it later on easily.clips can be assigned shortuts, easy formatting options, thumbnail preview for copied images, latest version is skinnable. being open-source you can customize it to suit your needs. instead of grouping, folders would be better. some feature to retrieve accidentally deleted clips would be nice.

have you ever lost a link you had copied on to a clip board but then you copied something else right after. that is why ditto is useful for me. i copy it and ditto keeps it and will never forget :) very useful

"Never could get it to work" Might be a good program with a different op system. Couldn't make it work with Vista, might have been just me though.

The size of managed clips ? hundreds of formatted text captions and images Ditto's speed seems slow when there are these hundreds Ditto is well designed and very usefull clipboard manager with a lot of settings. Moreover, there is Ditto's portable (for USB etc.) version at its ditto-cp.sourceforge.net Updated on Jan 14, 2009 Pros: The size of managed clips - hundreds of formatted text captions and images

Not a bad program. Though weighing in at 2+Megs vs CLCL v1.12 @ ~200KB, and less featureful than CLCL which hasn't even been updated since 2005. On the plus, looks good and intuitive, easier to use out of the box and has help documentation.

Very nice but still will not display bmp in window and they still are all named cf_bfid (whatever). Has a few themes too (nighted is nice). The number of settings (countless) is almost bewildering. clipx is far from perfect but is much simpler & I don't have to wonder what cf_fid looks like.

"All the clip boards you could possibly need" Has become my mainstay for copy/paste Doesn't come up inside of ThePersonalBrain, but that's a Brain problem, not Dittos Works so easy and quick and holds so many clips.

"it's ok, but i liked the previous version better" it works ok, but the newest version i dont like as much as the previous one i had. the newest verion doesnt automatically drop the item i double-klick right into the text window i'm using like the older version did. it's ok since either i dont have a clipboard or cant find it or how to get to it on my antique Dino-putersaur. see cons.

Includes support for plain text, rich text, and images. The only new "hot key" you need to remember is (by default) Ctrl - ` None that I could find immediately. Before settling on "Ditto", I also tried: "Clipomatic 2.01" - 2nd choice, but no support for images or rich text "PasteCopy.NET 0.9.7.4" - could not understand how to operate it "Clippy" - certain operations made the progam fail with a promt to report the failure to the author. I didn't even want to try "M8 Free Clipboard" after all the comments about nagware and despite the positive reviews about "ClipClipper 1.1", it does not support graphics.

installs easy, no noticeable performance impact, captures clipboard items, allows me to group them together, can paste as text only, configurable hot key support, supports many times of data, has a share option which I have never used. Twice in the last 6 months I have seen it quit responding to my hot key request, I just restarted ditto, and it started working again. great, professional product.

I've been using this for more than a year. It's simple and easy to use -- you call it up with an easy keyboard combination. You can either paste formatted or paste as text. I find it really useful for collecting citations from websites. Sometimes decides to copy something 10 times instead of once. This is a minor irritant because you can just delete the extra entries. Occasionally it refuses to paste an entry, closing the window and reopening it solves that problem. Nearly perfect simple and free clipboard extension.
