Paint.NET is image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for installation and shell-integration related functionality.Paint.NET is freeware, but the team is accepting donations here.

Although I think paint.net is a great update to ms paint, I'm very disappointed that they left out one of the most important tools you can have, and that is the spray tool....darn!

"It's an excellent program" I like the way we can apply pictures to pictures No frames to choose from and you can't use animations. I like the product because it's very easy to resize pictures/objects

"100% way better than GIMP and Photoshop" -Free-Easy to use/understand, unlike Photoshop and Gimp-Doesn't take a lot of space, unlike Photoshop Doesn't have custom brushes Not enough features to create good logo backgroundsNeed Framework BEST YOU'LL EVER HAVE. Disagree and prefer Photoshop and Gimp? Then I guess you'll never make a good, decent project!

"Does the job nicely for me" Uses layers and works well with transparency, which is important to me. Can't think of any right now. I use this for tweaking images I use in my software. This tool does the job well and for free.

"Easy to jump into, a pleasure to use" A very straightforward program, unlike some of its competitors. Everything is fairly self-explanatory if you've ever used a paint program before. I just wish the pop up windows - brightness/contrast etc - would stay where I put them and not always appear slap bang in the middle of the photo I'm working on. You can't go wrong with this program. For serious photo work and fun.

"Simple, but effective program for quick editing." Works similar to Ulead's older photo editing program and Paint Shop Pro, which were easy programs to use. For the price (free) why complain. It is a simple program to use for quick editing. Sure it doesn't have the bells and whistles that Adobe Photoshop does. However, you're not paying the high price for making simple, effective and quick edits.

"A true WOW program." Full functionality, great for novice users. Easy editing software! None.Note: I did have minor trouble uninstalling it at first ,but a folder I changed messed up the program's layout. No problems now though! Wonderfully easy for beginners.

"A great free program for everyday home use" As an average computer user this program has all the features I will ever need. Being free is a bonus. A great program for editing all those family photos. for my everyday use I probably will never find an action that is not in this that I need. So no complaints. I was extremely happy with the eye dropper color match and being able to crop a photo. I found this program to be quick and responsive and comparable in features to the full paid PSP.

"Easy to use, always being improved." Multi function abilities are quick and easy to learn. The tutorials are all on the website and make it a bit of a hassle to discover how to use certain features,as you must go back and forth between the application and the tutorial.
