Dunno, because it did not work after I installed it. One friend of mine told me he was using Orbit Downloader with Firefox and had no problems. It does not work, at least for me. I installed it and restarted my Firefox browser. But then I could not use my browser- I simply failed to open anything using it. I uninstalled the Orbit Downloader and everything was back to normal. Dont know why it did not work with my Firefox3.5.7 browser. I have to admit it was a very bad experience for me trying to install and use it. But then again, many people are using it and its one of the most popular downloads here on cnet.com. Yet it acted like poison for my firefox browser. Instantly sent it to a state of coma.

"It doesn't work - at all & freezes IE." Absolutely nothing. Tried using it on Vista & XP from different sources. It took a long time to even get it to find the file, then it never started the download. It just sat a 0% indefinitely. On XP, it made IE unbearably slow. IE freezes completely on Vista. Since it is completely nonfunctional and actually detrimental to the normal functions of IE, I uninstalled it and will never try it again.

It does a fine job of managing multiple downloads. If it could be easier to use, I don't know how. The look of the program is soooo 2004. The Orbit downloader (and the includable Grab Pro are easy to use - very intuitive. I've not noticed that my download times are any faster or slower than any other free or included program I've used. Orbit works in the background nicely which is especially handy for mutiple downloading. It doesn't conflict with or unreasonably slow down other applications running in the "foreground".

"Good functionality; persistent & annoying program" Good functionality. Grab++ plugin usually pretty effective in identifying the source of streaming content. It's a useful tool. I find the program invasive and annoying. It tries to become the default download manager for everything you download in any browser. I'm not a novice, but I don't quite know how to get the program to monitor browsers for flv swf but not bcome dl mgr

"Has always worked ok" The fact that you can see the progress and if the download is too big for chrome, it is transferred immediately over to orbit to continue, and I can keep browsing. Sometimes I can't open the pdf downloads - but I don't know that that is a problem with the orbit program. I can download most stuff that I want without jumping through hoops to do it.

"Good for some things" Fast, fairly easy to use, progress meter is easy to see. New interface looks a little cheesy, creates shortcuts on the desktop and start menu even if you choose not to, tries to install additional software, tries to reset Orbit as home page. I like Orbit for some things but it's not the only one I use. It's Grab++ works very well. Hate the new interface, went back to an earlier version because of it.

"Not Good, Stopped Usin' It." Nothing Actually, Just that it can download and resume quite easily. Many..... doesn't support RS , MU, HF etc. fully. I changed to IDM. it is paid but definitely better. IDM is the best. Orbit is now losing its previous position......

"Nasty adware" Just a download manager Replaces 404 page showing ads. I can open some web-pages in browsers like Opera, but can't open in Internet Explorer with this crap installed Terrible adware. Was much better before

Pre-v3 versions were great, but every new one (3.0.0 to 3.0.2) still have LOTS of bugs! * The queue is completely messed up, files are downloaded in random order (at least I don't see any logic behind it). * The progress display mostly lags (does the whole download?). * When deleting entries from the list the "delete file as well" checkbox ist ALWAYS checked (at least it doesn't do anything to the files, no matter what state the checkbox is) * The scheduler is still awful (why set the date in the general preferences, not for each file? why does it remain in the past after downloading?) * Changing order in the queue (if it would work) is a pain, I second the "add buttons"-wish! * ...and many more... To bad a once absolutely great downloader got so badly messed up, seems like completely rewritten from scratch :-( EDIT: just checked out FDM mentioned below, works great, but I REALLY miss Orbit's feature to enter a custom local filename (i.e. how many downloads still are called "setup.exe"??). So for the momemt: back to Orbit 2.8.20 (still available via http://www.filehippo.com/download_orbit_downloader/)

"Non intrusive. Does exactly what it says on the tin" I like its simplicity and the non intrusive behaviour while it is downloading. Informing you when the download is complete is also low key. Nice laid out list of previous downloads. It is also as good as I state and FREE. Appears to be a little on the slow side but this could be because my are only gives me a one meg max download speed, one of the downsides to rural living but I will take the slower boadband.
