The 9.5 version is getting better with each build. I'm looking forward to the release candidates. I left FireFox for Opera because FireFox requires too many plug-ins to do things that are basic to Opera. No need to constantly be searching for plug-ins that are compatible with the verion of FireFox I run. I like the very flexible configurability that Opera provides as well.

It's funny how some opera fans are trying to try to make tweaks looking like plugins and thus saying that opera does indeed has plugins. Opera do NOT have plugins, and all those tweaks are: 1. lame 2. do not provide half the functionality. Opera will always be graggin its puny 1.4% of users, unless they introduce plugin API, not some lame-ass tools for devs. Opera > *

On their own, in my opinion, Opera 9.5 is faster and has better built-in functionality than Firefox 3. That said, I use both for various reasons - market share has nothing to do with which browser is better (some think IE is/was better than both), it's a matter of personal preference, nothing more. No problems with this update.

A good browser, but there is better out there.
Rated 40/50 by anomoly at May 25, 2008
Preference my ass. FF blows this away. FF is way more powerful and customizable to 'personal preferences' than opera ever could hope to be. Plus, opera wants you to pay for it's mobile version-lol. Opera mini is a pain as it runs via java whereas google.com/m just plain works. The one thing I do like is the portable version of this which utilizes tor.

4/5... Why? Well I would give it 5 but I really wanna see good adblock ability in it... yes it has one but it really sucks. Or if any knows some plug-in similar to firefox " adblock plus ", please tell... =)

I like Opera, but there is not Autocomplete when i make data entry. It is big "-" for me. And FF have so many extensions for all situations.

The best customizable browser, non IE looking (firefox)

I wish these stupid Firefox fanboys would quit coming here and rating Opera without having even used it. I tried Firefox for a month. I used it as my ONLY browser because I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. To get all the functionality of Opera, I installed several plugins. The biggest positive of FF was its "superior" compatibility with sites (opera is getting much better though). Other than that, nothing really to brag about. FF takes about 5 times the memory (yes, 5x) as Opera, if not more. Speed - it's hard to tell. Stability - hands down Opera.

I'm having lots of problems with this build. Mainly problems with GMail and scrolling.

I love Opera. But with 9.50 beta gotting problem with the ADBlock and the AD's Google. When i blocked this one and try to open a web with ADgoolge included the web doesn't open at all. Just when delete google ad's this webs can open without problems.

The betas are getting better. But they keep breaking some fundamental things at various stages of development, which is frustrating. At times it makes me want to throw up my hands and say "it's not worth it, there are other good browsers". I'm a developer, I understand how things can happen, but someone ought to seriously consider how their Q/A department is handling things. The Firefox beta process has gone much more smoothly, and FF3 is a pretty nice product. Opera is already in danger of permanently slipping to 4th place with the Safari product (which I think is second-rate.) Opera, if you're listening to your fan base (I'm one), you need to do a better job of not only getting new users but retaining loyal old ones.

I had problems too, but not with scrolling. Several sites took almost forever to load (including this one). It wasn't my connection as they worked fine in Firefox. Certain elements just wouldn't load. I've had to go back to 10014 and they now load without problems. The rating is solely on this build, not on Opera overall, which usually merits a five from me.

No problems related to this build. Diam0nd - did not have the problems you encountered...though I did run a fresh install.

This particular build barely works for me. I can't scroll on most pages. Again, I'm not rating Opera, I'm giving a rating to THIS PARTICULAR BUILD.

at first, i must say that i love opera! the best browser out there... BUT, this beta is really ****ed up!! scrollbar doesn't work sometimes, i cant get my emails - the email client just freezes and the popup that shows you that you habe new emails doesn't work properly. i also cant send emails. another thing is, that the "back" button does not work until the mouse hovers over the "forward" button o_0 ?! and also the "find in page" search field does not exist... if you have one, it will be replaced - in my case - with the amazon search. but i must say, that it was not a new installation. it is the third update that i have done over my 9.27 version. i have killed my opera client that way ;D

Scrolling IS totally fixed. Build works great for me

It's a nice browser, but is it going to be in beta forever? I think they're learning from Google.
