Ah, Improvelence, this thread wouldn't be the same without your constant Trolling. Bless you, sir. However, you are starting to contradict yourself: Sept 5th - "I cannot understand how this ** ** *** has so many fans?" Feb 24th - "...but its tiny fanbase shows that it is not even a mild threat..." If anything, Opera's fanbase has GROWN during those six months. Kindly uninstall Opera from your machine at your earliest convenience and save us all the bother of having to listen to your pathetic, unbalanced hate-rants - I suspect the 'five' people using Opera wouldn't want to visit your website anyway. - - - This build of Opera does seem to improve the plugin situation, particularly on Linux where I've noticed a huge stability increase. Windows performance is still quick, smooth and stable, although the Inline Find breakage is an annoyance I could do without. Surely it can't be long now before Kestrel finally lands?

I don't know what mean ugly, this browser its far more nice and flexible that FF or IE and Opera don't need install 100000 extensions for make it more robust. PD. I see that some Firefox users are a little stressed, maybe they need more "speed" ;) in they lives. I think that I go to rate FF now ;)

Still ugly, way slower that FF3, far less features, tiny and annoying fanbase...I could go on and on about the flaws of this browser but its tiny fanbase shows that it is not even a mild threat to Firefox or IE. This futile attempt at a browser hurts my feelings. The 5 people that use this are the reason I have to always test my website in it and keep a copy on my machine.

Great app. Very clean, and handles very well. Though, I would like to see a more universal rendering of CSS. Unfortunately, that's something that IE/FF/Opera/Safari/etc. will need to work out between themselves. I would love to see something like 'Firebug' and 'User Agent Switcher' as add-ons. Great job.

@improvelence: "Ugly, slower than FF and less featured..." Are you kidding? I do understand "fanboyism" but that's pathetic. Firefox needs a whole bunch of thirdparty extensions to match the features already included in Opera. Not to mention code quality; FF mem leaks like a sieve. As for performance, please do yourself a favorite visiting http://nontroppo.org/timer/kestrel_tests Run some of the benchtests found there, using either browser, then come and tell us what you think :)

Great. Fastest browser around. Works great for me in 99.9% of all cases (=sites). Simple amazing. I love how people discuss that it's taking long to develop this or that or whatever. People, here we are rating CURRENT VERSION, not future versions, not old ones, but CURRENT. Can we stick to that please? Cut the crap. ty.

It's been long since i last reviewed these "Nightly Builds" (they are NOT Betas) but the feeling grows on me that the developers are taking WAAAY TOO LONG to release 9.5, and LET ALONE Opera 10 which we haven't heard anything concrete about since first mentioned. They add and take, do and undo and the builds don't seem to advance at all because they are always critically flawed with about the same problems, they are fixing some eternal list of ghostly bugs or the like it seems... Hmmm, they are dissapointing me. I'd like to understand better what's going on inside the dev schedule. PD: Yes, i know http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/ thanks.

OPERA ROCKETS BACK TO #1, but ## WARNING ## Please ignore my previous 1 star rating. The bookmark bug has been fixed! Opera is the best browser ever. I just hope it gets better at rendering. :( Rendering has been improved tremendously in these latest builds! HOWEVER, I would advise people stay with 9.26 until BUG 280678 is fixed in the next build. Files are NOT being saved with correct extensions, which kills most downloads unless you rename them! :(

@yangster: Not a beta build > Snapshot build: ----- A snapshot is a glimpse into the next major release of Opera for Desktop. They contain experimental and incomplete implementations of new features, as well as work-in-progress on bug fixes. Snapshots are: cutting edge, pre-alpha quality, incomplete, and often contain critical bugs distributed to a very limited audience via the Desktop Team blog typically available every Friday, though sometimes more or less often not substitutes for final releases and should never be installed over them unstable and prone to data loss/corruption, thus data backup is highly recommended before use ----- Source: http://snapshot.opera.com/faq.html#what-snapshot

Opera 9.5b (Kestrel beta) build 9815 A snapshot is not a substitute for a final release, so those that use snapshots should expect to find numerous problems, some of which may cause Opera to crash or to lose/corrupt your data. Before each snapshot release, builds go through minimal smoke testing. Users are advised to make backups before installation of each new snapshot, in addition to normal periodic backups. Alpha and beta releases have higher quality standards than snapshot releases. They also go through much more extensive testing and approval processes. In order to meet the higher quality standards, riskier changes may be postponed until after an alpha/beta release. Thus, quality after an alpha/beta release may drop dramatically when previously postponed changes are introduced.

Opera fanboy for past 3 years. However, latest firefox 3b4 AFTER firetune opening 1 website at a time noticeably faster than opera. So? Opera is so much more comfortable, convinient and lighter.

I don't read the forum, but I have both FF3b4 and Opera. There's no question that Opera is waaaay faster. On *both* the laptops in this house...

Wonder how much they pay these Opera fans? With latest stats showing Firefox3 beta4 way on top of all browsers for speed, i wonder if they read anything else but the Opera forum. BTW, the History Search still isn't fixed from past 4 versions if not more.

Very good browser, but I am a Firefox man :-) BTW, how do they get that font smoothing on the screen shot? I see that Opera menu does not have smoothed font, and window itself does, which means that it's not just Windows ClearType turned on. I downloaded and installed this beta to check it out, but I've got just usual non-smoothed text.
