Have been trying out the latest Opera beta 2, not these weekly versions. Opera beta 2 (the proper beta) is very good indeed. Forget these weeklies and go for the official beta, you'll not be disappointed.

The best browser Better than FF and IE Fast and has everything you want without plugins or extentions

This version continues to improve. however, there are still many regession bugs, i.e., features that worked fine in the release version but do not work in these beta versions. It looks like they need to tighten up their quality control, and at least use some automated regression testing.

Yeah, this beta fase has been lasting a while, but there are some major overhauling of the engine in this release, which is coming the right way now. Also, im glad that opera doesnt release software in a hurry, keeps up their already very good credibility.

@ alanpalmer: **** Version information Version - 9.50 beta Build - 10034 Platform - Win32 ****

Rated 20/50 by alanpalmer at Jun 2, 2008

Odd. The Help: About page shows this build as 10024, the number of the last build, although the install file has 10034 in the filename [o950s_10034m.exe]. My firewall (ZA) didn't ask about it as a changed program either. I wondered if I'd opened the wrong install file at first, so I tried again and this time it asked if I wanted to repair the program. There was no obvious difference after repairing. [Shrugs] Later: Opera has totally stopped loading pages. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting, and going back a couple of system restores. No luck. It won't even install the Help page now. At a guess, it was loading pages from cache earlier. I'll carry on to see what I can do to get it working. Rated on this build only

They seem to be focusing on passing AcidTest3: http://acid3.acidtests.org This latest build [o950s_10034m.exe] ups the score on that test to 82/100, where the previous several builds scored 79/100. Side note: another browser function that lacks complete support is: Flash Firefly. An example site is: http://twitlive.tv/

This browser has no place to go, but down and maybe out. It simply doesn't have the kind of support to make it a world class browser. I've taken it off my system with no plans to restore it. Rendering continues to be a serious problem. Fanatical users are not going to save it.

I love the new skin... if you want a smaller space saving skin try this: http://my.opera.com/comm...mize/skins/info/?id=656 Beta testing is taking as long as it takes before its ready for release.

New skin is beyond bad. It's ridiculously bad. Half of sites I vist are broken. Beta testing is taking too long.

Fast, Stable and nice. I also like the new skin.

Skins? Not way up on my priority list. Only one I would like to see is a Buuf skin for Opera. Irrelevant? It is going the other way, my friend.

I love Opera. I really do. I've been using it since about version 3-4. But for christ sakes why can't they give the thing a decent skin? The 7-9.27 series had a default skin that thoroughly sucked. Now this one is a distinct improvement but it still sucks. Just slightly less so. It's about time the graphics department pulled out their finger and gave first time users' first impression the first class treatment it deserves! And another thing is if they don't get this damn thing out of BETA/RC pretty soon Opera will become irrelevant if its not careful, especially with a resurgent FFX3. As a developer i can understand that we like things to be "perfect" but for the sake of Opera users and Opera the company they really should get this thing released now!
