It plays many, many file formats...including flv and swf files. Takes over any file types it supports as the default player.Top-heavy...takes forever to load when another program is quick to play. The main reason I'm giving this only two stars is because of the fact that no matter how many times I'd change a default in Windows, Winamp would ALWAYS change it back to itself. I downloaded Winamp because the mp4 player on my system doesn't work; upon installation, I checked ONLY the files I wanted it to play, but it took its ugly icon and marked EVERY type of file it supports. I'd change default back to my desired default player, and Winamp would insinuate itself back in as the default. As soon as I saw that ugly icon, I knew it had taken over my system yet again.I already have an flv player and a swf player, and those are FAST. As I mentioned in "Cons," Winamp is very top-heavy. With my usual flv and swf players, I double click on the files, the files play. With Winamp...I wait. And wait. Eventually, they play.I ultimately ended up uninstalling Winamp, after I noticed it would re-insinuate itself as the default player, despite my wishes. It's a shame, because it plays mp4s and I still need something to do that, but I'll go for a program that doesn't make itself the default for everything it supports. This reminds me of another player, RealPlayer, IIRC, that I used to avoid years ago. I remember a time when it was perhaps the only player available, or at least for their own file format. It used to take over my system and make itself the default, too. Thank goodness, it was eclipsed by other players, so I ended up not needing it. And thankfully, I don't need Winamp, either, since there are other players available.

I love the auto tag, I have a lot of music without details & it is a big help. Lots of plug-ins & options & a browser. Doesn't detect & delete duplicates as far as I can tell. I have tried several media players & am sticking with Winamp!

I like this program and have been using it since it's inception. I have not found anything specific that I did not like.

Uhhh, give me a minute... still thinking... nope. None for me. Effed it up big time. As stated by beadmaster earlier... Winamp automatically took control of all files to which it could associate itself.I installed the program and then did not open immediately. I then downloaded Winamp Lite (several days later) and considered installing it instead. I opened Winamp just to view the 'About' to double-check which version I had installed (I had three different ones on hand.) It started going through it's initial setup routine which I stopped at the first stall screen. Too late. It had already commandeered all of the files.Determined not to be <royally> screwed, I uninstalled the offending program. Too late. I got screwed. Not only did it wipe off the associations to 'Blank,' my .wmv files no longer had an "Open with..." option available. Hell, .wmv was even no longer listed in the Default Programs list. You know the saying about going around your elbow... That's what I had to do just to restore the ability to play multiple types of media files. Ridiculous. Programmers ought to ignore the idiots that tell them to "just have it do it automatically." Most know to include "choices" for people. Either 'auto' or 'custom.' And when someone "X's out" of an install or initial run.... have it STOP and DON'T CHANGE anything.Oh how I wish MusicMatch had stayed independent and was still going strong. I still run my MM v7.5 through my Virtual XP (IE6 of course) on my Win7. Sound sucks but for organizing and tagging-renaming... it's still best. And no folks, do not suggest iTunes. I wouldn't touch it with your computer.

Great for MST3K and Family Guy... However... Seems to have serious issues - dating back several years! Seems to have serious issues - dating back several years - which are unresolved going on comments on their site from others who have had the same issues. It plain doesn't work well with some video cards and seems to hate Dell computers. "Error Opening Video Output". I have tried just about everything to resolve this including uninstalling/reinstalling my video card, and same with WinAmp over and over and over again. Another error is when you enlarge to full screen sometimes it just sticks there, other times it works just fine. A real nuisance overall because I like MST3K playing away on my TV (yes TV) when I'm working away. When it works it's great, when it doesn't it's a real pain...

OK when installed. But watch out there are two attempted third party installs, the second one is very clever. Take your time installing. 4 stars for deceitful installing., naughty.

Except the junk that comes with it once installed runs smooth .
