Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. This tool will help to remove specific, prevalent malicious software from infected systems. Because computers can appear to function normally when infected, Microsoft advises you to run this tool even if your computer seems to be fine. In addition to using this tool, you should use an up-to-date antivirus product to help protect your computer from other malicious software.

yeh not sure how this got a 5 star in voting, considering Windows hassles you until you install some kind of anti-virus kit to deal with what the Malicious Software Removal Tool is meant to also address? Waste of time. I'm only writing because I DID NOT download this tool, yet 6 mysteriously named directories appeared in my system, all containing this exe! Now, I wonder, how did that happen? I'm sure I never consented to unsolicited software downloads even if it is from MS, but I was sceptical before running it until my own anti-virus/mal-ware took a look at it. Utter waste of time: We need minus star ratings.

THIS IS TRUTHFUL AND I'M NOT LYING! PLEASE READ FOR YOUR SAFETY! THERE IS A LINK AT THE BOTTOM YOU CAN TRUST, TOO! This is a scam not made by Windows. It is a part of the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials. I know that this is a scam because earlier, my computer was infected by a scam called "Palladium Pro" which was a part of the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials. That program wouldn't let me get anywhere! I never asked for an installation of "Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" it just came to my computer! I never clicked "Allow program" because I know it is a scam! A virus! In my opinion which is probably correct, the people who made the "Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool" wrote the review to trick you! This is a truth, so please don't install this! Don't allow it! If you did, go here! http://www.bleepingcompu...emoval/remove-fake-msrt

From an actual Computer repair shop. This tool is very useful for machines that are infected and won't let the installed antivirus run. This is a real program and to the guy that has no idea where it came from, get a clue. it comes through windows updates so know what you are doing and what is being installed before you bash a perfectly legitimate product. That said, to be sure you are getting the legitimate copy because there are fakes out there: x86 version http://www.microsoft.com...-4f54-9ab3-75b8eb148356 x64 version http://www.microsoft.com...-495e-94e7-6349f4effc74
