Did a good job converting a DVD but not before Deinterlace was switched on in Options. You will see it is necessary when there is horizontal disturbing in the rip!

This was an excellent product. I loved using it, but hopefuly they will shorten down the time required to convert. However, it was excellent, very easy to use, and it has SUPERB quality for mp3 players. I love it.

Latest version rips DaVinci and Geisha without any problems. Has its own "Compress the DVD to fit on a single layer disc" function, along with many others that the competition has like copy only the main movie, convert to different formats, etc. and all at a pretty decent price. It's interface is pretty easy to understand from the start. Options are clear and straight-forward. Seems to be a solid stand-alone executable option, causing no conflicts with packet-writing software that I can find in my tests with the program. Might be worth a look if you want a ripper with some extra functions built-in.

Easy to use start the program, pop dvd into drive, select destination, select format you want to convert to or straight forward back up and click start. Five free goes before you buy, better than some 10min wonders that are out there. Quality VG. No conversion to 3gp and when converting a 90min dvd to mp4 took about 1hr 10mins, don't know if this is slow or not but it seemed a bit to me. As a novice at this sort of thing I was looking for something easy to use to convert my dvds to play on my ipod and this software is great to use. Plain no gimicky icons to click on. One window does all. You pop a dvd in wait for the software to recognise it then select a destination drive, select a format to convert to, select if you want subtitles or not (which saves time and space if you dont), all done from drop down boxes and click start. I didn't try many other formats apart from mp3 but I am sure they would not be a problem. I'm going to get the full version.

"This is a great thing, but it has its drawbacks." Magic DVD Ripper is really easy to use. It doesn't have crazy techno language, so it's easy to use for non-computer savvy people, like me. It has great quality in the outcome, and it is a small file to download. I just wish it was free! Also, it's kind of slow, like about an hour to convert a 2-hour movie, but no drawbacks except for that. This is a great product, but it's slow. It is definitely worth using up about 3MB of your hard drive. It's easy to use. I recommend it if you are looking for a good DVD ripper.

"Easy, high quality, but doesn't support multiple cores" This is the easiest software ever to back up your DVDs to iPod. Just stick the DVD in, select your desired output, and hit go. All in one screen! Output quality is very high and the filesize is about half of other programs. Encoding would be MUCH faster if the software supported dual or Quad core. Only one of my CPU cores are at 100%, the rest are idle. If the software supported multiple CPS, it would easily be the best software for DVD to iPod backup there is! Super easy to use, very high quality and small filesize (700-900 MB), does NOT support multi-core CPUs, so it will be as fast on a single cpu system as a Dual, Quad, or Octi-core system.

It is very fast and does what it claims very well. I converted DVD's to MPEG2 onto my hard drive. It took approx 10 min for the average DVD and even less for dvd's without a lot of special features. The audio and video quality is outstanding. If you use the custom mode you can't keep the menu's or any of the commentary tracks The thing I didn't like about this program is that there are not a lot of choices for the features you want to keep when ripping. If you use the custom mode you can't keep the menu's or any of the commentary tracks. If you choose the copy full disc you waste space on your hard drive including all of the previews, commercials, warnings, public service announcements language and subtitles that you don't need . Updated on Jun 19, 2009 PS: I'm running a core i7 920 with 12gig's of ram. The application runs well but only utilizes 1 core.

The magic ripper worked well and quick; especially for my IPODs but I had difficulty with the ZUNE equipment. The movie would not transfer to the Zune after a succsessful Zune conversion.

Easy to use. Rips most files. Doesn't convert files. Wouldn't rip a particular disk that only one other product I tried would. I have a DVD which was made with Adobe Premier, which uses Sonic Authorscript (At least that is what it said in a notice on the DVD in a folder called OpenDVD). I don't understand if that is some killer copy protection or what, but the VIDEO_TS files on the disk could be seen by Magic DVD Ripper 5.4, which I actually purchased for $34.97 after trying the trial version and liking it. Both Sonic MyDVD and Windows Media Player could PLAY the VIDEO_TS files from the disk and my hard disk, but when I tried to rip it with Magic DVD Ripper, it would say, "Can not rip a title with zero duration." (BTW: The movie is in one chapter, 1:21:47 long.) I then tried the 3 other free-to-try DVD ripper products on Download.com which had only a "number of uses" or "number of days" restriction. Same problem, although the error messages were slightly different. Even copied the VIDEO_TS folder to my hard disk, but that made no difference. Finally tried "Easiestutils DVD Ripper" and it was able to rip the files normally, and fairly fast. I wish I had spent my $35 on that product rather than Magic DVD Ripper 5.4. I am going to tell the publisher this.

rips protected dvds, doesn't inflate file size, no major problems or quirks would like to be able to select individual chapters to rip I had one copy-protected dvd that I was trying to rip. I had managed to rip the first half of it using a different program before my free trial of that ran out. Found this program, really only wanted to rip the second half of the movie, but didn't find that option. So, I had to rip the whole movie over again. File quality was good (both image and file stability). Rip time was average (1.5 hours for a 3 hour movie). Overall, pretty good product - only major flaw is not being able to select sections to rip.

I have fallen for this App. I use it daily!! It has never let me down. I have only run across 2 movies it has not ripped. That's pretty good in my book. I have used it for 3 + years! I Know everyone loves nero and brand-X of the month. But this program is the best and I love the quality of the AVI compression. If you have a better program for this price I want your review and your friends reviews. Otherwise, try and buy it! Can't Go Wrong!

Ripped everything I could trow at it. Alot better than any other ripping software I tried. I wish it would rip faster If you want quality, simplicity, alot of options, and regular updates to keep you up to speed with the latest dvd decryption, you have to choose magic dvd ripper.

Easy to configure, quick and high quality rips. None does everything I need. I tried over 5 other Mpeg2 rippers none provided any sort of acceptable viewable output. Magic DVD ripper was easy to use, quick, and made picture perfect copies.

Choose and Rip: Subtitle Track, alternate Language track, alternate angle, Any Title. Auto-Magically finds the title with the main movie. Advanced backup options, tons of formats to choose from, Supreme rip quality. Cant rip all Disney Dvds A spectacular program and I have only experienced one Unrippable DVD, Disneys Toy Story 3 Rental edition, But only because Disney uses top of the line encryption technology that scrambles the order of chapters. In fact it did rip the full movie but the scenes were scrambled. In closing this is one of the best DVD ripping products I have seen. While ripping Isos may be better suited to the pros. Imgburn, Isocopy etc... This program does exactly what I need it for: An all in one tool for converting raw DVD disks into usable video files.

Very easy to use, low resource consumption, excellent quality It didn't let me down at all! Unlike other DVD ripping program free trials, this one actually lets you rip protected content! Although I've only had to use it twice, it hasn't given me issues either time. Highly recommended.

I would rate this at 3.5 stars if that were an option. The core functionality of this application does what one would expect, but there are several major limitations. The following are three limitations that I view as the most critical ones: 1. Given that most modern desktop and laptop computers have multiple cores, it is unfortunate that Magic DVD Ripper not only won't use more than one core, but prevents the user from launching multiple instances of the application. This really should be fixed! 2. The audio encoding options are very limited, and are far from suboptimal when one is encoding for a portable device with limited storage. I'd like to see support for a wider range of encoding options, including the following: - monaural audio. Monaural audio means that there is only a single audio channel rather than two (stereo audio). The single channel can be created from stereo audio by either discarding the left audio channel or mixing the left and right audio channels together. - reduced bandwidth audio. Digital audio typically uses sampling rates of 44.1 or 48 K samples per second. Such high rates may be needed to obtain the maximum fidelity with music, but are unnecessary for spoken audio. For spoken audio, one can apply a 10 KHz or 12 KHz low-pass filter, sample at 24,000 samples per second, and then encode to obtain a much more compact bit stream. - variable-bit-rate encoding based on the MP3 or WMA standard (or better yet, a choice of either). The above options would provide more control over the size of the output file and allow the user to choose the right balance between sound quality and output file size. 3. I'd really like to have the ability to preview the content and select the specific chapters/titles to be ripped. (Magic DVD Copier, another software product from the same company, has a "Custom" mode that does this). I recently encountered a situation where I wanted to rip a single chapter from a DVD that had 27 chapters; Magic DVD Rip
