uTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.

Excellent program as always but i don't see the point of it anymore. Since the scare of RIAA involvement since v1.7, most torrents actively refuse any version of µTorrent these days making it completely useless. What's the point of having a torrent client who can't download at least 50% of the torrents out there? I've tried every torrent program there is and the best one at the moment in my opinion is now BitSpirit as it has the ability to choose what files you want to download within a torrent and i could never find a way of Azureus to do this. Not to mention BitSpirit has a far lower footprint then Azureus. Azureus still wins on being the fastest client but BitSpirit is very close now so i can forgive slightly slower speeds for flexibility and greater control over my downloads.

the solution is to readd all torrents, because the newest alpha breaks all paths.

Alpha 7435 is out: --- 2008-01-01: Version 1.8 alpha (build 7435) - Feature: options to bypass Windows disk cache - Change: flush write jobs if downloading is complete - Change: remove bundled sorts in "#", "eta" and "completed on". use second-sort instead - Change: Add some elipses to a couple context menu options in the main window (Add Torrent, Add RSS Feed) for consistency - Fix: delete files normally if delete to trash fails - Fix: stalls and invalid requests with HTTP seeds - Fix: load torrents with incorrect relative paths from previous alphas - Fix: do not look for torrent on the network if .torrent file dissappears - Fix: crash bug loading torrent state when .torrent is missing and file target was set previously - Fix: wrong .torrent file name was saved if .torrent was loaded from torrent storage directory

I love this application, I always rated it 5 but these latest alphas are a mess. Reasons: - the delay after the torrent is completed and passing in seeding - in latest alpha/beta 7435: utorrent takes a really long time for the client to begin uploading to other peers. - and finally stop adding new features and solve the current bugs * one star from me.

I have to agree with Metashrine, I've had no problems downloading torrents from various trackers all over the net. As for the new version... I hate it. I hate the tabs, and I hate the big column on the side. I use labels but I don't want it to take up the whole damn side... cmon devs, quite messing up a great program. 4/5 for anything under 1.8 2/5 for for this new trash.

I've always used utorrent. I've never had any problems with torrents refusing connections except from sites which require you REGISTER first. Cant complain. Best there is! 5/5

Trackers block alpha and beta version of many clients. Nothing special here. RIAA plant? Ha ha ha! Not as good as it used to be, I hate the tabbed look and I do not see any logging for UPnP.

I agree with Gimmie==. uTorrent users are been blocked. Of course, I still believing it's the best.

Not to give this rating a bad score with a second review but i just have to answer Metshrine below. I do know the difference between a torrent that needs registering and one that does not, trackers definitely are blocking uTorrent these days, it's a a well known fact.

I'm member of many private trackers and 99% accept utorrent alpha in their swarms. Many issues solved with this version, so 5 stars again from me.

I don't know what happened from the last version but it started out nice and everything was working fine, and bam it disappears, tried again thinking maybe I uninstalled it and again it disappears, not sure if this is OS related or just a Vista issue, but the new setup was nice but the rest a nightmare.

Tested and working so far Christ999, stop spreading the so called rumour about RIAA, proof or it's fake, this does not count blog posts or website's saying the same thing either.

µTorrent is by far the best torrent-client ! I hate people like "arjesus", who don't know what they're talking about !!! Think first then write !

I love the filesize and memory footprint. its amazing. all programs should learn something from the way this one is coded. bravo.

No problem noticed on this release. Still the best torrent client ever made !! I worked on the French translation on the first versions and continue testing it on their forum. No spy or crap thing in it. Allowed by all the private trackers I use (Halite and Bitspirit aren't). If you look for a simple software then this is the best or use the good alternative Azureus. But for people critisizing µTorrent, please review it about it's performances and contents. Please don't talk about your dreams you had the day before seeing the cops coming to your home with the FBI...You're downloading too many movies ;-)

Great client! ^Bow^ I think we should restrict to submitting betas only here. With alphas, its getting too clogged.
