Protected Music Converter is a software which allows you easily convert your protected (or unprotected) music files to most frequently used unprotected formats (MP3, OGG, unprotected WMA). Thus you can listen your music on your iPod, burn them to Audio CD, upload them on your cell phone, use them on whatever device you want, even if it doesn't support protected content playback.

I bought Protected Music Converter and it worked fine. When I upgraded to new version on Vista, it required a new key. In the software it states that you will get the new key free of charge. I requested the new key through various channels. They do not send the new key, so they make false promises and steal your money.

Davidfun, I too had trouble when I went to do an update, my key was no longer valid. I sent about 4 emails to all different id's I found on the internet. It's been about a week and I'm not sure which one worked but I finally got a reply from vicky at litexmedia dot com Maybe you can try that.

Although it is true that you can do this for free the other reviewers didn't mention that there are more steps involved in doing that and it's much more time consuming. I found this program very easy to use and it is fairly inexpensive. I didn't need to use a credit card as it accepted my PayPal account as a payment method. If you're looking for a simple and inexpensive program to do this I would recommend this program. I gave it four stars as I do wish it ran a little faster.

"Company won't answer email's for support" Works good but company won't give support The company will not provide support when requested. I really liked the product, but I had to reinstall it and when I tried to contact the support for Protected Music Converter, I could get none, so if I wanted to use it again, I would have to pay the purchase price again.

Able to take most any music type and change it. This has proven valuable for getting all my music to be able to play in iTunes and on my iPod. The program is also easy to use and master. The layout is a little difficult the first time you use the program. And I think it couldn't convert a very small selection of my music (I don't fully remember the situation). It can also take a while to convert music. I first used this program as I was preparing to be the Director of Technology for a national conference. I needed to edit music purchased from iTunes and other places to be used for keynote speakers. Protected Music Converter changed the music perfectly so I was able to edit it in Audacity and use it the way I wanted. The multiple options of output types is also great if you are looking to have great functionality with your music files. I purchased the license and have always been happy I did. After trying to use several other music converters, this one was the easiest to use and worked the best.

Fridle's links are nothing but a real rip-off. There's more info on his spam operation here: http://oncallnerd.com/blog-spam-hunt/

The majority of times it does exactly what you expect. It's very easy to use. Sometimes it stalls. I think it has to to with MsMedaPlayer's codec, but ain't sure. A reboot helps. It's not the fastest app around, but I don't mind that. You have to 'silent' all other apps while it is converting to avoid errors. I see no reason to look too hard for any other app. But if I stumble upon one, I'll certainly try it out. For now I'm very satisfied with Protected Music Converter. I recommend it. It's regularly being updated.

Was very excited at the idea of being able to remove DRM from approximately 550 music files (music that I bought with real money!). Well my expectations were dashed - and so was the music. The original files are OK but the converted files all have skips and silence throughout the songs. Sure, DRM has been removed. But so has the quality of the tunes. I'm really bummed, especially after spending $25! I'm back in the hunt for a superior product.
