Talisman is a replacement for Windows Desktop and shell replacement. You can build any interface for your computer. It hides the standard desktop of Windows. Place any number of icons, buttons, pictures or other objects. These objects can have any form or dimensions. All objects can run external programs or internal shell commands. The number of forms (desktops) is not limited. Any screen object can be set to switch from one desktop to another. All settings and pictures are stored in a theme file. You can even make many themes and use objects with links to go from one theme to another. You can add HTML-pages and Flash movies to the desktop and add sounds to different events. It supports Windows XP icons of any sizes from 16x16 to 128x128 pixels. It is posible to create different "zoomer" objects from such icons and to place the icons of different sizes on desktop.

"Most Powerful and easy to use!" After trying several GUI type replacements, this is the best. Its the most comprehensive with a myriad of options allowing you to create virtually any visual style you can think of. It's intuitive to customize available themes or to create your own. If you want to truly customize windows, this is the way to do it! Limited plugins available.

"Excellent Tool" Works with Vista!! replacing the boring default vista theme. would be awesome if it would support more variety of formats. More adjustment tools needed, and of course more samples would be a wonder. This is a very good tool to play with. One could go nuts with it.

Talisman is a fun shell for a minute. Then the realestate it uses and the games you play with it get to be a waste of time. I've used litestep but it is more like a linux gui than a windows one and is also very tedious and as well had stability issues when I ran it. I found sharpe enviro (free) seems to be the best yet. Integrates well with standard windows api's, is very stabile, slick simple, and highly configurable. Talisman is definitely worth kicking the tires though. The Russian (I believe) devs did some nice work here.

"good but hope for something easier to use" nice design, much better looks then my current OS, many choices. gets really buggy in Shell mode, has programs on the list that you may not have thus making them useless until you edit it all. love the theory, love the quality, hate some execution. this program still has some ways to go but it makes your computer compleatly different. really recommended for advanced users, even I find difficult using this.

"could be better" you can pretty much control every aspect of your desktop UI way too detailed for the average user... not a necessity for users that just want to customize their desktop UI...not a big fan of this product myself, but if you have the time to figure this one out, and want to replace windows explorer then more power to ya...
