It worked for five minutes. I purchased 2 copies of Kaspersky in 2009 because after installing the first one, I lost administrator rights to my own settings panel. After the 2nd install, I got continuous messages of "PDM KEYLOGGER allowed" which I could not disable. I emailed them, posted on the forum and attempted to contact them to make a report to no avail, yet I still receive their forum in foreign languages in my email after numerous 'unsubscribe' messages. How do you contact these people? I am wondering about the security of Kaspersky's update servers. Updated on Apr 14, 2011

My favorite features are the password lock on settings, the URL scanner, and the Safe Run. The Vulnerability Scan is also a valuable tool. I like being able to put my scans on a schedule. I did not like the menu change but that is very minor; since, I found everything I am use to using, in there new place. The network monitor is not very user intuitive but great if you know the language and what you are looking at. I have been using KIS since it was called K7. So 4 years depending on how you count it. I have followed system securities and review of products for the same number of years. I am currently working in the field and am pursuing a Bachelor's in this field. KIS is powerful and has not failed me yet. I do supplement with other software as any good IT Tech should but never have found anything on my system with either 2 I use. Please note Antivirus software or Security Suite is not a license to be sloppy. Not patching software, going to sites that are known problems, corrupted registry and bad hardware/drivers can cause havoc with even the best software let alone Security software. For best results in any Security Software you should start with the best base line possible. Do a fresh/clean install of the OS and then put the AV on that. I have never put a AV on top of an existing situation except for testing. KIS 2011 may be buggier than other version's years and maybe even competitors but they are attempting levels of security others can not or do not, issues that also point to less than a good situation already in existence on the computer anyway. KIS has always been the kind a IT person could personalize or a home owner could install and leave. Fix your problems install correctly and I am sure you find it satisfactory or better.

I give it credit due, it does scan like an Internet Security should. Heats up laptopTakes up lots of CPU (causes freezes and heat ups)Will not be good if you were to run a background program as this will keep scanning and scanning...and scanning....Scans every time you run a program, install a software etc, annoying While this is a good internet security suite (trust me, it blocks almost EVERYTHING unless you set exceptions) and secures your computer, it does take up a lot of CPU to run which in turn freezes your computer. If you're using a laptop, having Kaspersky would probably overheat your laptop if you have an outdated BIOS (had to update mine :S) giving it the "Blue Death Screen". Every single software you run would trigger it to do a background scan which would once again *drones* freeze your computer. All in all, Kaspersky is good, but it would do much MUCH better to not be so suspicious and scan every single program you run, even if it's an exception. And if you're going to be a idle background scan, make it an IDLE BACKGROUND scan because it takes up a lot of CPU continiously if you had another background program running (ie: Advanced System Care).

Hardly notice it is working, for it is not a resource hog. I have not had a negative malware issue since running Kaspersky Lab. It does an excellent job at blocking malware and warning me of harmful adware/spyware. There are a lot of settings and a steep learning curve when it comes to advance configuration. I really like the 3 pc license. It does a reallly good job at blocking spyware and other malware.

Straightforward, Unobtrusive, Easy to use. Touchy to install, can be too advanced for computer illiterate users. I'm not sure why every other review on here is against kaspersky. I work in a computer store focussed predominantly on services such as virus removal and I've found no other antivirus to be as effective as kaspersky. It's also far less annoying, only popping up notifications when something needs to be done unlike other AVs (mcafee springs to mind - that program seems to think if it doesn't have a huge notification window obscuring my screen then I'm going to worry it isn't doing its job). It has one of the smallest average footprints on computer speed I've seen. And, in contradiction to what everyone else seems to be saying I've very RARELY seen it fail to work completely and even less often have I seen it cause windows to crash. To be fair, kis2010 did have some problems so I avoided it entirely, using 09 for older computers and 11 for newer PCs, but then this is a thread for KIS 11 which, again, I've never seen corrupt a windows install. (And I've personally installed it on at least a hundred PCs.)End of story: Kaspersky is a great internet security product and imho the best available.
