MyDefrag (formerly JkDefrag) is a disk defragmenter and optimizer for Windows. Completely automatic and very easy to use, fast, low overhead, with several optimization strategies, and can handle floppies, USB disks, memory sticks, and anything else that looks like a disk to Windows.

"defragment-fast" more options can't run other programs at the same time real interesting to watch. Watching it you have to think it's doing a great job.

"I really like MyDefrag 4.2.5." I like the fundamental philosophy with respect to segregation of files according to size. The current version allows defragmentation of only selected partition(s). It is quick and does what appears to be a great job. I have no cons, though I would prefer a legend-color guide. I find the zoom feature to be a bit overdone. This is the best defragmenter I have encountered; it is also free!

"Best I Test" I use Raid 0 and is the best I found it is one of the only ones that care about this fact. Could have better format

Great diagnostic tool. Cured a massive Master File Table of data files, restored reserved areas, moved wrong files out of them. As much fun as fireworks. Restored control to a computer so bad that copying the smallest file took five minutes. When it paused at the finish of its ?Monthly Optimization.? It prompts to ?use space to continue.? Pressing the space bar takes MyDefrag offscreen or it exits the program entirely. It requires tolerance of at least an intermediate user. It took careful use of Google's advanced search format to find it, but MyDefrag finally cured one computer's oversized Master File Table. It also cured other problems and restored a good operating speed. I am reporting on only one use on only one laptop computer but it was a big relief that I did not have to reformat. It had 512 MB RAM and one 40 GB drive with a single partition running XP Home Edition with SP2. The laptop had not been used in about a year and hardly worked at all. For example, in normal mode copying any size file required five minutes. Consequently, Safe Mode was used to run Ccleaner, Chkdsk, and Defraggler. After this point it could be operated without going to Safe Mode. The graphic display for Defraggler showed full use of the 12.5% that was reserved for the Master File Table. The page file was very large, was subsequently removed for some operations and later invoked again. Using MyDefrag was a whole lot of fun! It restored control of a computer that had evidently been filled too full - at which time regular files are placed in the reserved MFT space. In addition, the computer had evidently been shut down in hibernation. This created a reserved area for the files that were saved at those times. Without the use of MyDefrag, I don't think I would have gotten this analysis. Still, this is software for those who can be tolerant of some unpolished areas; it is not for those whose sons, daughter, nieces or nephews do all their computer maintenance. I used "Monthly Optimization"

"Better than built in Win7 defrag" This is better with more options than WIN7's built in defrag. But the product could be a bit quicker than it is. Great defrag for Windows, better than the built in offering. Still could be quicker than it is in future work. If really is great for the price!

"Defragged when MS's defragger and Smart Defrag didn't." Simple to use. No complaints. MS's defrag said my C: drive needed to be defragged, but was unable to do so. After defrag, there had been no change. Running Smart Defrag also did nothing notable. The C: drive still needed defragmenting. MyDefrag, on the other hand, worked.

"I love the screen saver option!" Solid program-fast and fun to watch. The ability to run as a screen saver is great. Nothing to dislike so far. I would recommend this to my clients.

"great little tool" does it all, and runs in the background to keep it that way Not a thing works well with XP, or Vista I've used it for three years and never had any problems

You can fully control the placement of files on your disk, thanks to the powerful but still simple to use script language. Use it for fast daily or automated defragmentation or you can perform the most comprehensive defragmentation of disk free space None to signal. The past performance issues for daily or automatic defragmentations have all dispareared. Not only it is free, but this is in fact the only defragmenter that allows you to fully control the space allocation strategy for your files: this means that it can be used to reduce a partition, or increase the performance of some files of your choice. The GUI is extremely basic, but enough for most operations, and it won't take lots of ressources. This program runs easily without depending on complex installation: it can safely run from a portable memory stick, and it even works when windows is booted in safe mode, or loaded from a separate disk image to defragment your system disks offline. his program is extremely small and it offers a very fast scanner for the initial step, that can parse for example several millions of files on a disk in less than one minute (about 15 seconds on a typical desktop Windows installation used for about one year or more). It will also not use any CPU or memory ressoruces when you don't want it to run. This program is perfect for what it was created: system administration when you have time for it, but it won't take long and will not block you from using your PC even if a defrag is in progress. Stop paying many bucks for programs that will just want you to upgrade only to get a new GUI: this program is not a game, it's not a cute media player. It's just made and tuned for one task that it performs simply and very well. Note: this free program can do what other commercial programs will only allow if you buy a "Pro" version. However it does not include a remote administration service to defragment disks on several hosts (but you can use some windows facilities, including the Task sc

"first class software which does what it says on the tin" Utilities for refinement of defrag, speed of operation and excellent results. Better than many one has to pay for. Nothing but praise for the software Anyone will find this software easy to use, dependable and well worth using. I repair systems and have installed the software on many of these to the great satisfaction of the customers.

Now tells you which file is on a certain part of the cluster map. Not open source! JK Defrag is open source and unfortunately, the last version of JK Defrag was released in August, 2008. :( I like the concept of open source-ness. And JK Defrag is KISS! The only con that I really see with JK Defrag is that it's not aware of prefetch optimization. Prefetch was introduced with Windows XP. Updated on Dec 28, 2009 But, I still have good news, MyDefrag is not crippleware, unlike, *cough cough*, Diskeeper.

Comprehensive, easy to use, clear disc map A tad slow, but thats only a minor thing. I've just done a small survey of some free defrag programs, bearing in mind my laptop only has 192 mb of RAM with a 40 G hard drive I have to be a bit choosy as to what I run. I tried Ultra Defrag, Auslogics, Iobit Smart defrag and a couple of others down the list. Then I came across this little beauty. There's 3 different Optimization options, +defrag only,+ consolidate free space, or just analyse only. It even defrags a flash drive if you need to. What I found fascinating was watching the optimise monthly running. It showed a disc map of every little bit of eveything spread all over the hard drive, then I watched it gather everything together in the proper order and move it to the correct place on the disc. This actually works, and for a freebee, I don't think it can be beaten in comparison to the ones above. I've never paid for a defrag program and in all honesty I can't see what extra I would get if I did. If it came to my house and glazed me in honey I might, but at the mo, I'll let my Mrs do it.
