Disk fragmentation is generally main cause of slow and unstable computer performance. Smart Defrag helps defragment your hard drive most efficiently. Smart Defrag not only defragments computer deeply but optimizes disk performance. With "Install it and forget it" feature, Smart Defrag works automatically and quietly in the background on your PC, keeping your hard disk running at its speediest.

After running the default defrag from Microsoft, smart defrag caught over 200 files that the other did not and has helped my system greatly I found nothing wrong with the program

This product is easy to use, Works great and it's free. I can't think of anything to not like about this product. This product is great. It's easy to use, does what it is designed to do, and does it faster than some other products. It has never caused any problems with my system. Fast, easy, and free.

I just like the program. I've gone back and forth with this as well as others but have always come back to Smart Defrag. If you like free, then this is a nice program with nothing really negative to say about it. Nada! Zip! Zilch! Zero! Free programs are usually missing of useful tools many can use. This one does exactly what you need it to do.

can handle defragging my laptop well, and much faster than my past defraggers. it does take longer to optimise my laptop as well as just defragging it, even with just the quick optimize, and my laptop doesnt have much on it at all does what its supposed to, and does it well. could be a little bit faster though

light weight application defrags quickly easy interface for a free program, nothing to complain about I was gonna buy CA Tune up program since System mechanic's deep defrag freezes here, but after I found this, it keeps the disk organized and fast. Nice program.

Easy to use and runs virtual silent in background. Once system is initially scanned sets the par for the remaining running time. Can rescan at anytime to reset levels. NONE! Can't think of a thing! The best freeware defrag period. Beats MS by miles!

Relatively fast, decent options+info, FREE, works well. *HATE* it's "Auto"-feature! -Disable it first thing! (easy, just one check-box) -unless u enjoy uber-slow boot-ups (hmm, like old Nortons? ick!) and sum bogs while u work... (its background defragging sux, same kinda prob as Vista had, +others) I like it, I use it instead of any others (incl. "O&O", etc)...>;]

An easy to use user interface, that easily works with other tune-up, clean up utilities. Works quickly and effectively. No downsides with this simple to use utility. Defragging your hard disk, should be a task that can be performed quickly and effectively and simply gets the job done. Smart Defrag 1.5 fits the bill perfectly!

I use it daily and it works well. It defraged files that I did not even remember I once had on my computer. It runs smooth and helps the computers production and speed! None that I know of! It works fabulous. Great product and does the job effectively and well.

It was free and did work ok if free space was 20% or more of total drive. Never crashed. Simple interface. Never does a complete job of defragging. Once it starts skipping files because there's "not enough free space" then you can forget getting it to ever defrag those files. I had 2 GB of space open and it would not defrag a 140MB file. Free is the con. Give it a try since you've nothing to lose but do not expect "professional" results.

Absolutely the best when it comes to performance after doing an "optimize", I've used other programs (and they haven't been as good when it comes to optimizing the location of files on the disk. With auto defrag on, the machine never felt slow! Unfortunately, the program *still* doesn't have the ability to create exclusions. I have a boot-time encryption program, and when using the optimize function, was used. it corrupted my hard disk! I wish there was an option to exclude files/folders. Bottom line, one of the best programs on the market... No complaints, but be careful with any PC's that use boot-time disk encryption (like Safeboot, etc...) asthe program ignores the "Unmoveable" bit, and can corupt your hard drive, if using boot-time encryption.

as free programs go, it's very nice. it doesn't defrag like a professional

It's free, there's a scheduler and with 3 different settings I never have to worry about it. None, I never had any problems.

Easy to use, fast, multiple partition defragmentation. It's stated that it defrags empty space, but for as long as I have known the purpose of defraging empty space, is to move part of program into that space so that all files are in a contiguous alignment. However, it always leave empty spaces. In addition to the Cons - You also have to take into account the Windows Performance Calculations, this is done by Windows Vista and 7 by storing information on the Prefetch/Readyboot folders. Everytime I use this program - for Defrag and Optimized - it puts files in the order this program think is best - NOT taking into account Windows file placement as descrive above. You can test this yourselves, just defrag and Optimized- reboot your computer and let it sit fr a while - yu will see th hard drive being access a lot for about 15 minutes, That is because Windows is re-placing the files most access in a faster location of the drive. This is part of what Windows does. So the whole idea of Defrag and Optimize without taking into account the Prefetch information is doing the opposite of what Windoes trys to do. If it optimezed the space properly, right after optimization, there should be no red bllocks, but it always leaves many, and yet its supposed to defra all files. For a free program is ok, but the only program paid version - that takes into account moving the MFT completely to the beginning of the disk and then place all files continuosly to the front of the disk with no empty places is called UltimateDefrag. Smart Defrag did not speed up my boot time either. Of all the free ones, i have tested, this is the simplest to use, but it does not do everything it descrives it can do.
