7-Zip is a file archiver with the high compression ratio. The program supports 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, LZH, CHM, GZIP, BZIP2, Z, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB formats. Compression ratio in the new 7z format is 30-50% better than ratio in ZIP format.

You can't go wrong with this program, just as good as pay for programs. Gets better with each release.

Absolute 5 stars. Really, i don't care about the GUI, all i want is a product that can do it's job fast and good. 7Zip is that kind of product, not like Winzip, wich is slow and don't even compare with the compression of 7zip, oh! But it have a nice GUI! I don't care! What is the secret of a good and fast product? Minimal GUI. Comparing Winzip with 7Zip is like comparing Edward (twilight) with Blade... Really! Edward(winzip) is all shiny and all... but Blade KICK vampires ASS!

If you don't like the interface there are skin installers with dozens of skins. Great program, difficult to find a reason to pay with zips. Blows WinZip into the weeds.

On my old laptop a while ago, I used another extractor for downloading items and extracting them. But today, when I went to download it onto my new laptop, I found out that it was not free anymore. I frantically searched the internet for an equal or better solution. When I found 7zip I though "Hell, might as well try." So long story short, 7zip really saved me! It works better and faster then Winrar and the others and it's free!
