Found it very helpful with large text files as it has a helpful find feature . For me it is the best way to work with text. I can not come up with one!

This program allows me to create text files and edit other files that are text based (java, vb, html). The search is fast and easy, the customization is simple and straight forward. I have used this program for nearly 10 years. I love it! None. I love this. You can't do special formatting (like in word) but this isn't a word document. It was never meant to be. It is used to edit text. Invaluable for doing that job!. I use this every day for log files, html files, text files (the list goes on). I usually have many documents open at once and it handles it perfectly. When it comes to manipulating text, this program is a MUST.

VERY configurable, just works the way I expect it to. The ability to compile and run within the program is great. Doesn't allow FTP and working on online documents in-place. FTP and online editing are the only things that I find missing.Used it as Java servlet IDE, including debugging, compiling, and running.Use it for every text editing job I come across.Love the language profiles that allow coloring and syntax checking.I'm going to upgrade my old v4 license to work with v5!

Allows quick and easy editing of multiple files. Easy column editing. Simple and fast to do 90% of what you want most of the time. Lacks some of the more complicated features for tidying text, and some of the 3rd party free plugins you can get with something like Notepad++. Use both Notepad++ and TextPad for each of their strengths.Overall both are FAR better than any other editors out there.

I've evaluated a large number of text editors, looking for one that could handle decent multi-line macros in a Windows environment. Nice enough editors, but their macro capability tended to I haven't used it long enough to find anything wrong with it. But If or when I do, I will probably forgive it for it's ability to handle macros correctly. An example of where I found it valuable is when you have to modify a lot of code that looks like: ,[Name] = <Name, varchar(31),> ,[DistributionCode] = <DistributionCode, varchar(6),> ,[TreeOwnership] = <TreeOwnership, varchar(5),> ,[StreetNumber] = <StreetNumber, varchar(15),> ?into something that looks like ,[Name] = OtherTable.Name ,[DistributionCode] = OtherTable.DistributionCode ,[TreeOwnership] = OtherTable.TreeOwnership ,[StreetNumber] = OtherTable.StreetNumber ? by the time you get to thirty or forty or a hundred lines of this you?re talking to yourself (and answering too). One macro in TextPad did the above transform. Don't waste your time trying this in Notepad++ (an otherwise excellent editor) you'll lose hope. Love it to bits.

TP is a great coding resource / text editor to have around especially if you're an eclectic coder. Its plugins that provide ide-lite formatting/markup of coding. It's really the coder's "pocketknife." Totally dependable, and cheap at the price. Till you pay for it, TP pops up little "continue evaluation?" messages about every 10th time you save your work. BUT -- it still saves the work first, then pops up, and returns you to the work once you reply to the alert. I've used versions TP (not exclusively of course!) on and off for nearly ten years, and would hate to live without it. Great for simple html or as that handy "visible clipboard" for editing code chunks without screwing up your 1200 line script!

TextPad is a hard coder's tool with lots of uses for webmasters. A little more control over text formatting without having to dig into the options list would be nice. I used this program every day. A great companion product is WildEdit. A great way to S/R through oodles of files with pinpoint control.

Great text editor, but was unable to open 4GB+ files in 32bit Vista. Also, when I tried to buy it, the site could not handle my credit card. Helios did not respond to my queries, so I have since put up with the never-ending nags... Helios and I both lost.
