Lightweight, fast and good enough. Uses minimal resources when compared to PerfectDisk and Diskeeper and the choice of advanced and new users alike. Unlike PD, DK and OO, absolutely no dependency issues to deal with on heavily stripped and nLited systems. Multiple defragmentation sessions per day are not uncommon. Highly recommended.

vopt became a dinosaur and can't compete with "perfect disk" or "O&O". still rate it "3" for some of it's useful features.

Absolutely the best file defragmentation program, the only one of its kind that doesn't use WinNT defragmentation API which leaves thousands of holes in filesystem, because it moves files in 16K chunks. With Vopt you can defrag your FS once per half a year, with other defragmentators you have to do that constantly (say every week or every day). The only missing feature is offline defragmentation of system files like $MFT and others.

It has a virus. Not a pro. It has a virus. Confirmed on ME. Deletes system32 except drivers folder on Millenium. From a fresh install. Where's Quality Assurance? Don't download. Virus.

VERY FAST and VERY POWERFUL - only defrag program out there that shows you a REAL cluster-for-cluster representation of your drive! Not a CON - a Warning - You really need to know what you're doing if you're going to do anything but a straight basic defrag operation A well-designed and well-maintained software. If you know absolutely nothing about this stuff - just pick a drive and ask the program to defrag it with the program's default settings and watch the pretty screen - Vopt is the only defrag program that shows you each cluster exactly where it is on the drive and what Vopt is doing with it.Or you can click on the screen, pick a cluster, any cluster - if it's part of a fragmented file, Vopt lets you manually drag the file to anywhere on your hard drive (I suppose it let's you drag any file) and it will gather up the pieces and assemble it - defragmented - wherever you want as long as there's room. But you should let Vopt make those decisions. You have Quick Defrag or Tighter Packing options straight off, but under Advanced Settings it allows you to control more esoteric aspects - like moving your system restore files to the end of the drive.It has it's own built in clean up utility that works really well. White list important cookie and add files to an exclusion list if you don't want Vopt to mess with them. (Vopt already will not move files Windows has fixed or the Paging File but it can be set to defrag these on start up.)Run an analysis, see what kind of junk there is and run the cleanup utility or delete the garbage manually then let Vopt loose. I have used it for years and have never had it mess up my drive - even once years ago when the power failed in the middle of the operation - Vopt just picked up where it had left off.Also included: a bunch of small utilities and access to some built in Windows utilities - some tune up functions, converting FAT32 blocks to NTFS, drive failure detection, health, chkdsk, windows malicious software removal tool... they
