F-Prot Antivirus security software package has various components that help keep your system secure from viruses, backdoors, trojans and other malicious programs. It includes the RealTime Protector, a memory-resident monitoring utility that observes all files accessed on your system, a Scheduler where you can set the Scanner to make automatic scans or updates on your system at any time and an Updater to manage all signature updates.

FPROT finds naughty files and programs that other top-rated scanners miss. I run SpySweeper, Counter-Spy, Trend Micro and other virus/spyware scanners and they all find most malware, but FPROT found almost a dozen other bad files hidden on my computer. Also, some of the "other" scanner/shield products are too intrusive and rob too many machine cycles from the machine.

The antivirus did not detect or find any viruses is simply because your PC has got no viruses. As simple as one plus one equals to two. TQ.

Terrible! Downloaded trial version, first exc downloaded from Frisk was corrupt. Second worked fine, but update hung at about sixty percent. Had to kill update with task manager and start over. This time update would not even open. Decided to remove program and damn uninstal utility stuck also! Downloaded so called "removal tool" from F-prot,did nothing at all. Ended up going into safe mode to remove program and regedit to remove legacy keys. Maybe its just my machine but I had a colon full of of F-Prot. Back to Avira!

F-PROT is efficient in weeding out the trojans, backdoors or whatever you seem to have that is wreaking havoc on your computer. It uses heuristics so it can (and DOES!) prevent the bad stuff from settling in. One of the best picks I've made ever! Configuration is rather limited, but nothing for average computer-ers to worry about.

I've been using F-Prot for over 6 years now and would recommend it to anybody. It's lightweight because of it's small footprint which of course allows it to perform an entire disk scan without affecting your front-end processing. There's nothing I don't like about it. They offer a Windows and Linux/Unix version and pricing is very very well worth what you pay for. Rather than purchase 2 single-user licenses, it's cheaper to buy the 10 license corporate pack! When viruses are spreading across the internet, I've seen them update the signature files up to 5 times a day! Quite impressive!

I've used this for years on two oldish DELL laptops due to its very small memory footprint. An excellent program. It also keeps improving.

Does not slow the computer down much. BEWARE! YOU CAN NOT UNINSTALL THIS PROGRAM! I'm not buying it again. :( I had f-prot on my computer but decided to switch to Gdata after finding out that I'd had a virus on the machine that fprot wasn't doing anything about. (Gdata found it and repaired the file, btw). Then I tried to uninstall, which turn out to be just about impossible. There's no uninstall feature, windows can't get rid of it, and I have to be messing with registry files to get rid of this awful thing. I've tried it, my computer nerd friend has tried it, but the darn thing just won't go away! I also found it hard to exclude files and folders from scans, and for some reason I've been getting more false positives on with f-prot than Gdata, which I've been using at the same time on another machine.
