Gold. Just wish it could get past those damn sites that use PHP scripts for downloads. FIVE stars.

Full of bugs, yet this is the only downloader which ain't stupid enough to have Direct Download enabled on rapidshare.

Very solid. Easily the best and there are times when I work it hard. The occasional bug but nothing show-stopping. As a plus, it's constantly under development unlike a lot of other software projects. Love its built-in support for HTTPS.

Just 4 because it's already 2.5.753 since yesterday. Otherwise, this is a good download manager.

I have been using this app for several years now and have never been disappointed. THis is as solid as software gets and even the betas are less troublesome than most release versions fo other "shareware" apps of thsi type. Gets my highest recommendation.

Works for me like a charm. Open Source, active development and fast. Best I have seen so far. (@zapatero: No Problems with the Firefox extension FlashGot on my side.)

Rated 40/50 by zapatero at Feb 20, 2008

At least 12% slower than Internet Download Manager (not free) in my system. Some problems with the Firefox extension (conflicts with FlashGot).

Great DM, functions are clear and concise. Well recommended and works without problems on Vista and Server 2003. I have tried them all and prefer to only use this. Free is the icing on the cake. If you already have a preferred torrent application, then I highly recommend the lite version that is leaner. Plug-ins can always be added later. Many thanks.

I used to love this program, but not any more! Riddled with spyware junk. Avoid!!!

Been using FDM for years; it works great on XP Pro. I've only had one problem with it in that whole time and it was a bug with the download. Spyware? What spyware; I have the most current version and I don't have any spyware on mine. I'm using it right now. It works great, but if you want to download torrents get Azureus or or uTorrent.

Does anyone know what's new ?

Rated 50/50 by Ryusennin at Jul 25, 2008

Does what it says and for the advertised price. No forced spyware whatsoever, except in the sick minds of the naysayers.

Build to spy.

The best download manager of Windows. Has all the features of other $hareware produtcts without the bloat. Handles multi-source FTP and HTTP downloads with ease and can also run as a portable app. And no, this does not contain spyware/adware or trojans. After install and scanning with NOD32 & Avast!, it comes up clean. Not fully trusting any antivir I performed manual checks to: Startup registry entries-nothing added Services-nothing added Browser helper objects-nothing added Start FDM, then close-check running tasks with Process Explorer & Taskinfo-nothing added This is open source - you can download the source code and compile your own version if you like. Repeat - this DOES NOT come with spyware/adware. You got spyware from something else you downloaded. You n00b!

Excellent program, stable and does its job without any issues, the you tube downloader and converter works fine. There is no spyware period, from day one this good piece of software has been stigmatized due to some crap AS FP. I have Avira Premium and have scanned my system with Windows Defender, Super Anti Spyware and none have found anything bad in this program. Truly sad it gets blamed for nothing. Those who are wondering whats new in this beta can check out FDM from at http://www.freedownloadm...d/viewtopic.php?t=10255

I will only give it a 3 since it is not officially supporting 64-bit Vista. I can see no overriding reason it should not but until it does it will continue to get a mediocre rating from me regardless of its features.
