"Maybe Adobe Reader isn't that bad after all". For sure it isn't, and moreover the font rendering is as to what I've seen rather lousy with Foxit. Adobe Reader Lite loads as fast as Foxit, and has the touch of authentic quality.

I'm getting sick of this turd. I had to come here to download the full installer, since the thing was unable to download and install the update the usual way. Sick of the bugs and limitations as well. Maybe Adobe Reader isn't that bad after all. Plus, using Adobe Reader, the DOpus preview plugin works...

It's still incompatible with some PDF files but much better than a resource hog named Adobe Reader.

It's great! Fast and lightweight.

I love this software. Everyone should use it instead of the BLOAT that adobe puts out there

This is WAY faster than the adobe reader ever was and/or will be.

The installer reported that "Mozilla firefox is not installed", but of course it is. To use certain simple functions in the free version, a toolbar "powered by Ask" must be installed. It wants to create icons to eBay (what for?)... I prefer PDF-XChange Viewer, which has more options in the free version.

Who needs Adobe Reader when you can use this just by downloading the zipped version and just click on the exe file to load it? You have now an option in the program to remove advertising ("View" -> "Advertisement") - even if it will be back on next startup. Only thing that still has to improve: There's no other language than English, and language packs available on the site are very old and don't work with this new build. Translators, go for it now!

Best pdf reader around, hands down! Sumantra is good, but doesnt even come close.

Lightning fast. Only problem is, Firefox beta builds (Gran Paradiso, Minefield) aren't detected by the updater, which will prevent the installation of the Firefox plugin. Not a big deal though, you can still will online docs in the standalone viewer.

Great PDF reader, but since it's 'freeware' it shouldn't prompt a user to install like a dozen of adware/spyware toolbars, links and other useless crap during the installation :X. And there's this banner in the program itself. Seriously they should decide whether it's freeware or adware.

Wery nice PDF viewer UT the newest version, the more issues. Currently there is the problem with toolbars settings. Last editions were correctly saving buttons visibility. This one still loads the same crap. I don't believe it will be fixed once for good. My pessimism came from years of waiting for similar feature for browsers integration. Nothing changed in this area so far. I will rate it for 4 but keep older version.

The speed for render documents in this version is quite slow that version 2.

The best way to eliminate Adobe's bloat.

Rated 40/50 by Galifray at Dec 26, 2008

While overall it's a good program. It seems to be suffering from some bloat. It's up to 6 MB unpacked, plus at least 3 MB more if you install the recommended toolbars, East Asian, plugins and other "extras."

Rated 40/50 by horsecharles at Dec 26, 2008

Galifray: so then don't install the 'optional' "bloat"... what's the matter with you? Nix the editor, creator, image extractor, Asian fonts, toolbar, online space collaborator, etc. Those ONLY get installed if you go into Options and mark them anyway. HenryPeck: i actually find this release renders even faster. This program is improving impressively by leaps and bounds. Latest Foxit release auto installs FF plugin in most Moz browser variants-- even K-Meleon & Flock.... you must manually copy it over to work in Opera 9.xxx also if you wish(v10 already comes with built-in Foxit). FYI if you already edited pdf extension in FF, to open in exterior Foxit, you MUST re-edit it(within FF options of course) to now utilize Foxit Plugin). PDF Creator install still buggy on Vista...installs on one of my systems(ironically one with lots of problems), will not install in the main one...go figure.
