Foxit Reader is a free PDF document viewer and printer, with incredible small size, breezing-fast launch speed and amazingly rich feature set. Its core function is compatible with PDF Standard 1.7.

Very easy to use. Doesn't stay stuck as my preferred PDF reader for some reason. Not too much of a problem though.

Now no choice but to also install an useless toobar. It was fun while it lasted, Foxit Reader, but I'm off to find software which doesn't force me to install a toolbar--or at least offers me the option of paying to avoid it. Now, where's another PDF reader? Edit: MajorGeeks and no toolbar? Wrong! Tried it. Same thing there. Foxit Reader is dead.

In many way better than Acrobat Reader: faster, better interface, better feature. The Ask toolbar. No simple silent install. Very good one but since ask became a so prominent part of it I'm no longer using it. I'm just version by version testing it hoping one day they will not have this prominent presence. As it is now I won't take it as on option in any kind of business environment but for sure in home environment.

New functions of this version not reviewed Installs a browser toolbar from Ask.com without any option to avoid it. Foxit Software has officially joined the slimeware brigade with Foxit Reader 5.0.Since at least 3.x, Foxit has always made you uncheck unwanted garbage in its installer, like the Ask toolbar or Ebay shortcuts. But with 5.0, the Foxit installer forces you to install a browser toolbar without any opt-out method. If you don't agree to install the "PDF Creator" toolbar from Ask.com, you aren't allowed to complete the installation. No reputable software company would release such an installer. Goodbye, Foxit Reader.

Whether or not there is a version that doesn't install the Ask toolbar drivel is neither her nor there. Foxit aren't the first to employ this tactic and probably wont be the last. Disappointing to say the least. I've switched to PDF X-Change. http://www.tracker-softw...duct/pdf-xchange-viewer

As others have said, the normal installer now forces a toolbar on you. Get the MSI version to avoid the toolbar. Also of note: The program now has a "Start Page" which shows your PDF history and runs ads for Foxit's commercial products when no PDF is open. You can turn off the "start page" in the settings if you're annoyed by the ads. Aside froml the advertising, it works as labeled. I've been using Foxit since the 2.x days, and have never been disappointed. 4 of 5 because of forced toolbar in normal installer.

I use this now because printing my paychecks don't require Adobe Reader anymore. It is much more secure than Adobe. Ask Toolbar. It is easily removed; however, when installed, I opted out to install it, but it installed anyway. I understand companies need money-but when I opt-out installing a toolbar but it installs anyway, that is VERY wrong. This used to be great software. It IS lighter than Adobe-I will keep an eye on things until something better comes along.

Great alternative to that other PDF reader. Toolbar installs without asking, tries to change your search provider and homepage. Here's how to avoid that toolbar:http://www.computer-maint.com/apps/blog/show/7197026-don-t-install-toolbar-when-updating-to-foxit-reader-5

Fast and accurate with some neat features and without a lot of bloat. It does what it is supposed to do and stays out of my way the rest of the time. It is not a resource hog and won't bug you to purchase extras. I have no quibbles with this software, it does what I want, when I want. I heartily recommend this software for handling your pdf files.

Allows me to make comments and add markups to documents. Nothing I can think of. Good pdf reader. I'm a proofreader/copyeditor and find Foxit Reader invaluable for commenting and adding markups to the pdf docs I work on. Fairly straightforward to use, no downside so far.

Looks very pleasant; you can chose from different colored "skins". Appears to get the job done, but so did the old version. It has hijacked my desktop icons on start-up twice now and packed them all over on the left of the screen. It has changed setting in my task manager. Defrag and shut down on Auslogics defragger has become defrag and restart. This is the only program that I have recently installed and I do NOT like having to re-position my desktop icons every time I restart my machine, which btw is running Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit with a Pentium D 945 and 4GB RAM. Besides the icons I have discovered that certain other settings on my machine have been changed; Task Manager settings for Performance and Networking come to mind. And as mentioned by someone else there are two places that you must un-check to avoid having ASK installed and made your default. I switched from Adobe Reader to Foxit Reader many years ago because of the speed and "bloat ware" issues with Adobe; and I really liked the Foxit, but it did not commandeer my setting in the old days. This newest version is "Hijacking" things and causing me angst. I will be uninstalling it shortly...after the lengthy SB S&D scan finishes. There appear to be a "load" of .bmp and .png files in this software; that might explain all the adverts that others have mentioned:-( Updated on May 29, 2011

I like it. I also use Sumatra and another. Haven't tested this one new version much yet. Looks great; fully featured; no bloat; frequent improvements/updates. None found so far... Go get it. The price and the bloat factor make it a no-brainer!
