"To all you PDF-XChange Viewer developers that are writing negtive reviews here. Compared with Foxit Reader, PDF-XChange Viewer is total crapware. I am NOT a PDF-XChange Viewer developer. I think it's quite irritating that any negative reviews are debased as insignificant or from te competition. If anything, you may be a FoxIt developer trying to downplay FoxIt's problems. PDF XChanger > FoxIt > 1000 year old turd > Adobe products.

I have to agree with those who say Foxit is incompatible. I have several non-latin PDF files that Foxit refuses to properly render for some parts of the document. I have no idea why. The slow and bloated Adobe reader renders these documents fine. I wish it would just work. I would be willing to pay $100 for the Pro pack, if it was just 99.9999999999999999% compatible and had really good markup tools that allowed me to keep the original PDF intact, but still put my own notes on them. Ah well, maybe Adobe will... forget it :)

I like very much Foxit Reader and I don't find other reader better that this, and all of you that find Foxit incompatible just click in check updates in the reader and download the asian language compatibility pack ;)

Two words. Unicode names. Is this a joke? It's totally unacceptable for a PDF viewer to refuse unicode-named files. PDF files can be written in many languages, yet this software defeats the purpose of PDF. LOL.

Too many vulnerabilities.

No thank you I will stick with the "slower" but "more compatible" Adobe Reader 8 :)

name one and provide a trusted link. foxit reader is great, fast and excels at what it's built for - viewing pdf documents.

Good! Works great for me! Fast and good, but I really dislike the bookmarks pane, which I can't permanently remove.

"Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 is still better." please explain how so. PDF's opening direcly in foxit open instantly, and are very fast to use. It's LACK of a browser plugin is an absolute plus, it never causes a browser to lockup or crash.

Best PDF viewer for me :)

Good, but for me PDF-XChange Viewer is better. For one thing, it allows to annotate PDFs in the free version.

Foxit has been the best PDF reader for me for some time, but now that they fixed the bookmark window issue, it's even better. For a good laugh, read this review of Adobe 9: http://blog.micropledge.com/2008/07/adobe-reader-9/

The known issue with the Find feature ignoring the Enter key upon initial use is still not fixed. And now, you can't disable the advertisement. (Or, at least, on my system I can't turn it off as I could before.)

Not impressed by the "save as text" option only being available in the paid-for version. Also, rendering of vector artwork is sometimes very slow compared to Adobe Reader - I can virtually watch the illustrations being drawn - and something is not quite right with the font rendering. As far as startup speed goes, Adobe Reader 8.1 starts up nearly as quickly on my PC which is not a high-end machine.
