"The most useful product I ever downloaded from cNet!" Beautiful display of image files, enabling rapid conversion of files to many formats. Cannot convert images to ICO format. Best free software available for image format conversion.

Lots of advanced features. Easily handles folders containing literally thousands of images. Easy navigation of your hard drives folder tree enabling sorting of pictures from folder to folder. Good sharp display of pictures. Menu and sub menu text size can't be changed resulting in sometimes hard to read meus on HD displays. Can't change menu icon size. I've had other graphics display and sort programs before and had problems with them crashing as my folders increased in size. As an amatuer photographer I have stored over 120 thousand pictures in 65 different folders. This program handles all my looking at and moving around without a hitch. Picture display is perfect and although I use a high end image program to edit my pictures this program has enough features that make quick ,simpler changes just as well. If you're looking for a reliable, steady piece of software to disply your images quickly for casual viewing, this is it. ALSO - it's free! but once to see how well it works you'll want to make a donation to the authors.

"Free and sufficent" Free and rich in its features and tools. The absence of web album creation tool. It is performance effective and rich in features. It is the absolutely free replacement for ACDSee.

"It is my EVERY DAY tool for photo manipulation - GREAT!" Full capability (excepting "layer" work) to do everything I need to handle my daily photo printing, modifying, storing, sharing...! Everything needed, laid out in a rational, easy to use interface. Batch processing is extremely thorough! Understand that it does NOT DO "layer" work (which is best left to Photoshop..and is usually not needed on a daily basis..). But, the "canvas" and copy/paste features are a little weak. The product combines the best approach: Every possible needed feature to manage photos is available on one handy screen. I urge everyone using it to donate a small sum to FASTSTONE.

"My most used program" Have been using program for many years; it does everything I want of an image viewer. Have tried others, both paid and free, but none were equal to Fast Stone . Can't think of anything

No doubt. The best image viewer available.

Giving it a 2* as the developer does not respond to beta reports. FFS, what is the point of having betas in the first place?

"Nice layout for easy use." Easy to understand functions. Great folder management. Plenty of different features to choose from. None for me. Got this more for the graphics than the photo help. I'm probably the most techno-challenged member on CNET, but this is easy to set up and easy to use with more features than I will ever use. Very thorough user manual.

"This is the only photo viewer I use" Very easy to use and a relatively small footprint not a sophisticated photo editor but very useful for general use. Very useful

"One of, if not the best EXIF editors for free!" Very nice interface and easy to use. I found no problem with the array of buttons. Can't think of anything I don't like. Just having an EXIF program to date stamp older non-digital photos and being able to group them chronologically rather than with just a title is super valuable.

Well designed, easy on system resources. Not fully colour managed. As a serious photographer, I need a fast opening, easy to navigate image viewer to search through hundreds of GBs of photos on my drives. FastStone would be perfect for this if only it would use the colour profile that I've set my monitor to with my profiling hardware -- but it doesn't. From the options available, ti appears to claim to be colour managed. I've emailed FastStone support on this twice, but they don't respond. You'd think they'd be interested in questions/suggestions/polite criticism from serious photographers, but it appears they're not. If it was colour managed, and if they did reply, I'd donate, as they'd hope...

Easy to use; tons of editing options easily accessible; simple crop features Automatically "uprights" your images so they look proper, but doesn't save them that way I do love this program and am installing it on my new computer because I love it so much. It is easy to use, intuitive, and provides a lot of functionality for novice photo editor-type peeps like me. My only grudge, as stated above, is you don't know whether the pic is going to show upright because FastStone automatically uprights the image for your viewing. The problem with this is when you go to upload to somewhere else, like an email, or facebook or whatever, you could upload a sideways image unwittingly. There's nothing more annoying, IMO, than having to look at a sideways image someone posted. But even with that one drawback, I am still reloading this onto my new machine because it is so easy to use. I just have to make sure to upright the photos in another program prior to importing into FastStone.

"Really like this program." It has more options than I know what to do with but I don't have to use all the options. I can use what I want. I think the items that I am uncomfortable with are simple things that I don't have enough experience using. I use the program in a limited capacity because that is all I want to use.

"Great viewer and a good selection of basic photo tools" Very easy to useTools are convenient and they work properlyCompatible with my OS (Win 7)It does not "conquer" the photos and rewrite them in its own format - it just leaves them in the normal directory in the normal format No complaints For most of us that like to manage our photos, but are not fanatics that need professional level tools, this software is just right.

For my purposes, it works MUCH faster than Nikon ViewNX. 1. (minor) Looks a liitle shabby. 2. (major) Lacks the geotagging option in ViewNX It provides what I need, much faster, except geotagging. I work with Nikon RAW files (NEF), which I process in Nikon Capture NX2. This means that I donot need most of ViewNX's quick'n dirty processing capabilities, but I do need quick lifesize viewing and sorting as Capture NX2 does not provide that. FastStone I.V. does.
