Mamutu is based on the Malware-IDS technology of a-squared Anti-Malware, but it introduces some new and specialized extensions and additions that are optimized for behavior blocking. It has live monitoring of all active programs for dangerous behavior (Behavior Blocking) and recognizes new and unknown Trojans, Worms and Viruses (Zero-Day attacks), without daily updates.

Mamutu is no longer beta but is in final release & now quite stable. Mamutu is an effective HIPS/IDS-type* malware app. Mamutu uses real-time monitors plus a huge database of malware signatures. The monitors & signatures are rigorously maintained in up-to-date status. Mamutu is a superb adjunct to your antivirus + firewal (or router). The name "mamutu", however, sounds like something that Tarzan would say to Cheetah. Umgawa! *NOTE- HIPS= Host-based Intrusion Prevention System. IDS= Intrusion Detection System. These are more effective against zero-day threats than is true for antivirus programs.

"Probably the future of malware protection" I tested Mamutu with different kinds of malware and it was able to block all of them, even those where my standarf AV failed. Installation was smooth and the ressources needed are okay. Will definately keep it on my PC. Within the first time of using there are some false alerts which need some clicking. But I assume this is normal for behaviour blockers.

"nice idea" in opposite to pattern based antivirus programs, mamutu detects actions of software. that makes it able to find harmful programs that are new to antivirus makers. what i like most: when you get an alert, mamutu tells you how other users of the software decided for that specific alert. that makes it very easy to distinguish between good and bad programs. at the first run, mamutu alerts a lot. e.g. it detects spyware behavior in internet explorer and firefox. but after a short while all these unnecessary alerts are history and you'll only see alerts for real dangers. the suggested action, based on the decisions of other users helps a lot to avoid getting annoyed by mamutu.

"EVERYTHING EMSI MAKES IS BETTER THAN THE REST" EFFECTIVE, CAN FIND BAD FILES SEAMLESSLY AND REMOVE SAFELY, GREAT SCANNER AND CLICK THE UPDATES ONCE A DAY (IN A SQUARED) FOR REGULAR UPDATE PROTECTION, IT IS A NO BRAINER!! EMSI RULES AS DO ALL THEIR PRODUCTS. EVEN THE PRODUCTS THAT REQUIRE A SMALL FEE ARE WORTH IT!! AND THEY ARE BETTER AND CHEAPER THAN THE COMPETITORS!!

"Good but too expensive" Best of the behaviour blockers I have used. Nice GUI, informative messages and good support if required. Community based advice or decisions are good as its a fairly large community Too expensive when you consider some of the alternatives are free. You nee to register for the free trial.

"Easy to use effective protection!" I put this product to the test against 8 malicious URLS using my Virtual Machine. It detected suspicious activity and gave me the option to block every one. This product is extremely easy to use, just about anybody can use this. None, although it uses 15 MB of RAM which is OK considering I did not notice any slowdowns. Great product for somebody who want a little extra protection alongside their antivirus.

I got it for free Everything's bad. Seems to think every piece of software is malware.

Questions EVERY application that you open on your computer. Makes you choose a different selection from default for every application you open. It thinks every application looks like it may be malware. MUCH worse even that UAC. This application needs to go back to the "drawing board". This program is much more of a frustration and aggravation than a malware sniffer. Price of zero is exactly it's value - nothing.

Works silently in the background while monitoring the processes for suspicious activity At times, we will doubt whether the program is really working in the background. The start up is also delayed and the program's icon will appear in the taskbar only after a couple of minutes

None No use at all. May as well use UAC as install this worthless program. This is a total waste of programing time that could have been used for a useful program. Don't waste time with it.

NONE ... tho this is actually more a commentary on the "great deal" from TrialPay ... Tried repeatedly to create an acct with Emsisoft so as to finish the installation of free download and it NEVER sent me an email so i could continue. Pls remove such stupid hoops in future. course, from what i've read, i'm not missing much anyway CNET ... Please only offer these "deals" if your members aren't gonna have to jump through hoops to get the app installed and in use. seriously! ...

Easy to configure. Unlike other posts I only received a few false positives from software that the Mamutu community had not seen yet and yes this app is cloud based. Advanced rule creation of programs you're not 100% sure about. It slowed my boot up time enough that I start it manually after everything else has loaded. I believe this caused by my security apps and Mamutu all trying to update on start up at the same time. I have been using Mamutu for about a month now. The time I usually see Mamutu pop up a warning is when I update software. It will tell you that a exe. file is trying to make changes to your software. Then it's just a simple matter of clicking to allow the installer do it's thing. I still haven't decided if I really need an extra layer of protection since I'm already using a layered approach to my PC's security before installing. The issue is redundancy. I use Comodo Internet Security (firewall & Defense+ only). Comodo's Defense+ feature acts very similarly to what Mamutu does. Behavior analysis and blocking. However if Mamutu detects and blocks some kind of malware that managed to slip past my other defenses then it will have been worth keeping. So the jury is still out and time will tell if it's worth the space on my hard drive. I'll update this post if any developments occur that changes my mind and I uninstall it.
