KatMouse is used to enhance the functionality of mice with a scroll wheel, offering 'universal' scrolling: moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes). Another feature involves the wheel button. Since the wheel button is not consistently used in Windows, KatMouse can use it for a kind of task switching: with a click of the wheel button you can push a window to the buttom of the stack of windows that is your desktop, making a recovered window the active window.

Allows selective scrolling of any of the many windows I have open simply by hovering the mouse cursor over the intended window; no need to grab focus of that window by clicking, as would normally be done. Works fine with Vista Home Prem SP1. None so far. Simple, yet useful utility. Small install and CPU footprint. With multiple windows open, it allows me to choose a window to scroll by just moving the mouse cursor over the intended window rather than having to grab focus first. As I always have multiple windows open in such a fashion that they overlap one-another (never seem to have enough desktop space), this utility allows me to avoid changing focus in order to scroll. Great find; highly recommend it. Note: it has additional functionality (which I've chosen not to use), that allows you to push an application to the bottom of a stack of open windows using the scroll wheel push-button capability.

"Essential tool" If you are working with different windows all day, nothing beats KatMouse. No more click to get a focus and loose the view of another screen, but scroll windows that are half visible or on another screen. works with 99% of my programs. doesn't work with a very few programs. Office 2000 being one of them. I can't operate windows without it. once you use it, you will only miss it when it's actually not running or not installed...This nifty program will boost your daily performance.

"great for powerpoint" When editing PPT, and scrolling through "notes" field, normally, you'd have to re-click on the slide to scroll through the slides. With this, it easily scrolls through any window your mouse is over. nothing, so far

1. Simple to install, no instructions needed. 2. Saves unnecessary clicking to give Windows focus just to scroll down to view information 3. Consistent with Apple systems. None yet after two weeks usage. If you have many overlapping windows and simply like to scroll another window to get some information while typing in another window without actually changing the focus back and forth many times, this is the tool. Surprising simple to install and use, no instructions needed nor wanted. Saves clicks--we all only have a given number of clicks before we pass out! I am told this is how the Apples OS X works with mouse. Why isn't this built into Windows? Perhaps I have done this unknowingly on the Mac platform and have been frustrated in Windows without knowing why. Now I know why, and feel an efficiency improvement has been made! Kudos to Katmouse, not MS.

It allows one to transition freely between windows without having to constantly left click to focus on the current window. I don't see any negatives.

simple, free and does exactly what it claims, that is, makes it possible to scroll whichever window you mouse over without having to click to activate it first. nothing yet A must have app, especially for anybody that also uses Mac OS X, where this functionality is integrated into the operating system, and taken for granted until you encounter a machine where 'click to activate' is necessary. I expect Microsoft will catch up eventually and incorporate with functionality into Windows.

I have been looking for a way to make the scrolling speed in iTunes 10 cover flow view slower so I can view each album art one after the other and KatMouse allows me to do this!

Works almost as advertised. No "set and forget application", see summary. I had problems with multiple application: Firefox 3 and 4 Beta, FeedDemon 4 Beta ... There problems could be resolved by configuring them manually. The problem is that I always forget that the problem could be KatMouse... ;) Now trying Wizmouse.

As promised non ............. Really improves the windows experience. So often a click to activate an application starts an unwanted process. That's over.
