Notepad++ is a free source editor with the syntax highlighting and syntax folding. It also gives the extra functionality to define a user's own language for the syntax folding and syntax highlighting. You can print your source code in color. It allows a user to edit the different document in the same time, and even to edit the same document synchronizely in 2 different views. It supports full drag and drop.

Like the mutiple buffers, color highlighting, & color printout. Prefer layout of structure used by XML Notepad 2007 which allows easier changes to element, attribute, & etc. for value changes. Has been very helpful as a developement tool.

It has a huge directory of different scripting languages and loads of features to help make your life easier especially when coding complicated or large pages/programs.It also has a great interface that took me 5 minutes to learn. Before changing it to your default text editor, consider that it isn't so great as just a 'text editor' (i.e. for editing text) but is much better for developers. A great piece of software with an intuitive interface that really suits any developers needs. The only problem I perceive with this program is that it isn't so great at just writing plain old text.Definitely a good one to download though.

The plethora of languages possible. Not much to dislike. I have been in computers for 43 years and this is one of the most usaeable products I have seen, especially for us who started with punch cards.

Supports syntax coloration of numerous languages, perl being one of them. none that I can think of Really mature product, especially for free. Great features, too many to enumerate here, but my favorite feature is its perl syntax coloration.

Easy to use, allows ftp connections, color coding support for a wide variety of programming languages No cons except that I had to dig around a little to find how to add an ftp connection.Other than that it is perfection.I don't understand why anyone would give a bad review to this product given the fact that it is free. For us programmers who can't afford Zend Studio or Visual Studio on our personal machines, this is a great program to use for quick code changes and grunt work where you don't need Intellisense and debugging support.

The ability to work with text with no problems. The lack of the ability to integrate it with my free pascal compiler and run code on the fly. I like it for it capabilities and I have a dislike of the fact that I must run my go external of it to run my code after compile.

I use this and Netbeans for websites. Notepad++ for small editing and Netbeans for authoring. I have had an issue, and a quite severe one. Typing a change in my files, then ctrl+s for save, and guess... NOTHING has happened. I open the file in other editors and it tells me that it is not saved. The only thing it needed to do, it failed in. What is the use.

And|, are you trying RC (release candidate)? It could be buggy. Is the same case with public releases? I never had any problems. ctrl+s saves files for me. It gives me all sorts of alerts like closing editor without saving files, deleting files outside editor while open in editor, etc.

Great add-ins, simple and clear interface, many supported languages, FREE, small in size, customizable appearance, and more It takes long time and occupies a lot of system resources to handle large files (from 10MB). Start-up is no longer fast as previous versions. Need to do more on tabs. Pros and Cons have told almost everything I'd like to say about this program. I just want to conclude that this is a valuable and should-have product.

Very "rich" application - Plenty of options and possibilities - Display is really user-friendly (and programmers-friendly) - Loads fast - Free - Maybe too frequent updates, even if you can disable the automatic update check.

Keeps files in tabs until you close them, so they are there if you close, then reopen Notepad++. Add-ons to support many, many programming languages. Does not lock files, so you can use a file even while it is open in Notepad ++. It doesn't seem to work well with huge files greater than 100 mB or so.

I only needed this to edit (often) a config file. It works like a charm. I am not familiar with all the tools, but it does what I need it to. None that I know of???

The color coding and indentation make it easy to see what I'm doing and catch mistakes. Intuitive with its multiple tabs, "close all but this" etc. I can't think of any. It just works without fuss and gets the job done.

easy to use, the colour coding is also useful if you make mistakes. none yet ?????

Color syntax hilighting works great. Perfect for HTML and Javascript, and XML. Allows multiple open documents. Really great text encoding support! The UI is a bit quirky and nonstandard. But you get used to it. No reason to use notepad anymore - this is way way better.

I like all the different language formats and the tabs for multiple documents can be opened. You can't do horizonal or vertical windows so you can have mult. document side by side
