Pegasus Mail 4.52

Pegasus Mail by David Harris Screenshot Pegasus Mail Screenshot

Pegasus Mail is an e-mail client that interacts directly with the user, allowing mail to be sent, read, filed, printed and otherwise manipulated through a graphical interface. Small and fast, it can be left running permanently on the workstation and includes powerful tools to notify the user when new mail arrives. It can run on single Windows computers, or local area networks - it has special support for Novell NetWare LANs that allow it to operate intuitively and with almost no maintenance. It also supports multiple users on a single computer. It can act as a complete internal mail system on its own without needing further servers or components: it can send and receive Internet mail on its own using standard protocols (SMTP, IMAP and POP3).

easy to use, I love the queued mail because if you change your mail you can delete the email before it is sent. Simple to set up. Works with mail.com servers which is really nice. This is hard because I like the program. I would say no email stationary yet. Bottom line if you want simple easy to use, no hassles the by all means get this program.

Nice look, appears to have many useful features Could not configure to either to send or receive. After 4 e-mail exchanges (using a different e-mail program) with a volunteer Pegasus tech, and trying every suggestion he made, it still did not work: error msg said "problem connecting to network" I never got to use the program. I guess I am stuck with my present program, which I don't like, and which made me download Pegasus.

It is indeed a working email client... The interface is straight out of 1995...does the company who built this product still exist? If so, there's no excuse for not updating the look and feel of the program. I uninstalled it and am running Windows Live Mail instead.

Easy to install, looks like good help menus Will not load graphics in e-mails. Tried changing the program to load graphics, but it didn't help. Good for those who need a very rudimentary program

It installed OK The first run requires you to create a user with Admin privileges, which I did. It then asks you to enter your username, which I did, and it said "that user doesn't exist" and closed with no other options. So I was locked out. Re-running did the same This may have been a problem with using non-default folder placings, as others have commented on that. Totally unforgiveable that this doesn't work properly. Uninstall.

I loved Pmail, but please let it die a graceful death. 16-bit support? DOS? Win 95? Netware? David Harris was amazing. But unless he has come up with a 32/64-bit program that offers something better than Thunderbird (yes, I know TB is currently 32-bit), then let's remember pmail for the excellent program it was.

I have tried a variety of other email clients. IMHO, there is nothing that beats the power, flexibility and reliablity of Pegasus. Some of the features that make it superior are perhaps not for the stubbornly non-geeky, but power has its price in the form of a (not daunting) learning curve. Once its merits are appreciated and exploited, Pegasus really stands out.

Nice-looking, customizable, easy to configure. Make it very easy to class emails properly. May appear not friendly to below-the-average email users that do not wish to learn. The best of it's kind among the ones I have used so far, though Thunderbird is also a good choice.

Its a mail program what can I say. Installed easy, options setup are clear. None that I saw. I was looking for a substitue for "WinLiveMail", which does not impress me at all. I liked "WindowsMail" which I had with Vista.
