Comodo BOClean protects you against a full spectrum of malware, automatically removing these programs from memory, your hard disk and your registry without the need to reboot or drop your internet connection. It safely neutralizes these threats instantly without any risk of damage to your files or computer. It is designed for central administration in network environments and can be customized in a number of ways. It can also be hidden on a desktop to protect against tampering by end users. Because it is automatic and runs in the background, there is no need to depend on user training or vigilance to secure your network. It is also excellent for individual users and "home" networks. It will shut down an intrusion long before the person on the other end has a chance to so much as "ping" the victim's machine, much less start grabbing data. When an intrusion occurs, it will stop it instantly. No other security program from any other manufacturer works this way.

It's funny how people rate things based on other's opinions opposed to personal experience and then pass it off as empirical! Anyway, that's another topic/diatribe. I decided I'd try this program myself. I've successfully infected myself with a common trojan, Agobot with BOClean running. BOClean's list of "Covered Malware" claims it is aware of Agobot yet it does nothing as the trojan easily installs, executes itself and creates registry keys. UNACCEPTABLE.

Seems to miss some common trojans im my test as well. In its defense, most programs are falling down on the job these days. Few are able to find and identify trojans and other TRUE malware anymore - usually all they can find are the well-known adware type programs. The type of torjans/malware that hackers are using to steal passwords, zombie the PC, etc, change their signatures and methods way too quickly for this type of software to detect. The only protection is to not get the software on your system in the first place. I've started using a VMWare session to run anything even close to questionable.

Some testimonials of Comodo BOClean praise it for finding malware their antivirus missed. Well, after it shut down a program I myself made because it said it was a trojan, I wonder if the malware BOClean finds are too often false positives. I believe Comodo should provide data on the risk of false positives and otherwise improve BOClean's sensitivity.

Good program generally, although I too have seen a couple of false positives. One of those blocked a system file of all things. My main gripe really is that each time a new version of the program is released, it has to be manually downloaded, the old version uninstalled, the machine rebooted, then the new version installed. So although autoupdates are carried out daily, that doesn't extend to the main program. So that limits the user base to those capable of carrying out the above tasks in the right sequence. I know many home users who, if they were using the old version, would happily carry on using it until it dropped, blissfully unaware that it had been superceded by an update.

Simple fact is that no matter what anti-virus or adware/spyware program you use, you will always be playing catch-up ball. No program, as things stand now can be developed that anticipate future attacks. The best defense is to just plain old common sense: don't open email that you don't know the sender, don't go to questionable sites and don't download programs unless you are assured that they are safe. Yes, have a decent firewall, anti-virus, and adware/spyware programs but use common sense. In the end that is the best defense. As far as this program it is average like most of these programs. nothing more-nothing less.

I always knew and stated what a digital turd BOClean was, but the list of those in agreement was a short one, because of the fanboy user base and the complete lack of a trial version. I find it funny how many people agree NOW, given that more people are able to try it.

Yes, I'm sure that's what s/he meant, idiot. Nice post. And to think, sometimes genuinely helpful reviews get deleted around here. This thing is indeed a piece of garbage. By default, it will blow away your Winsock registry settings and your "downloaded program files" directory contents, even when it flags a false positive.

I have used BOClean on and off for years, from back in its early days as a paid version. It has never caused me any real problems. On the other hand, I run in a limited user account and don't install suspicious programs, so it never catches anything either. But it is a nice backup, and I see no reason not to use it, especially since it is free. It doesn't slow anything down in my 2.4 GHz P4 under WinXP SP3. I am running avast! Pro also with no conflicts.

Pointless at all .

I don't trust anything Comodo related. This is no exception, it makes your system slow, and it doesn't give any security in return.

I used to use ThreatFire until it destroyed several good apps along with an actual threat whenever it found them. Now I use BOClean which has never killed good apps along with the bad stuff it catches.

"Detects threats in zipped files when they are run" Very good program No cons, no no weaknesses

Excellent but a little basic. None really. It's there watching you from the top line (in my case). A little black tv screen that blinks to green every ten seconds. It's guarding your pc from attack. It would warn of a trojan, if one did appear. Of course it would be far better if it blinked (scanned) every three seconds for example. So only four stars.

"Real time trojan detector &remover!!!!!!!!!!!" It detects the trojans in real time monitoring & remove them them. update process dosen't start in 1 hour time, finally Comodo Bo Clean is the real time monitor for avoiding trojas spreading..........

"Not impressed" Small compact program. Very easy to use. Requires very little resources. Not really worth it. It tried to crash/close a couple of times. Troubles with Shared dlls. Not stable at all.

"Very happy works all the time and auto updates." Same comment as in 1. It is so secret I'm not sure it is working all the time or when it finds malware, etc. Comodo firewall and anti-virus suite is the best free program on the Internet working all the time and that's why I trust B.O.Clean is doing the same.
